Water softener: On the Go Double

Pressure regulators
For the hose bibb: Watts 263A (set to 60 psi)
For the coach: Fairview 55 (not adjustable, set to around 50 psi)

Pressure gauges

There are less-expensive versions of the regulators and gauges that work as well, but either may not be as durable or as maintainable.

There are a number of portable water softeners available for RV's. Just have to do your research and hopefully find one on sale.

As for pressure regulators, there are those that are static for less the $20 and those that are adjustable for more than $20. Again, do your research.

We use On The Go double water softener. Fairly compact and very easy to do the regen process. Takes two normal size containers of table salt and about 30 minutes of time. We also use an adjustable water pressure regulator at the input side of the water softener. I set my regulator at 65 llbs. These items are readily available anywhere from Camping World to Amazon.

I have an On the Go. It came with the coach and is only thr single, but if I was to buy I would get the double.

When in Mexico the single gets me about 500 gallons. Means recharging more often.

I also put about one spoonful of iron out every other time.

I installed an automatic water softener with brine tank and it works great. It's from https://motorcoachwaterfiltration.com/ and simplifies the regeneration process.

I also installed a 3" diameter glycerin filled pressure gauge in the wet bay control panel. I got mine from WW Grainger but I'm sure they have them on Amazon as well. The glycerin filled vial helps to dampen the needle against shocks.

I don't recall any more, plus it was combined with a deionizer. Check with the above link to motorcoachwater filtration and they can tell you current pricing. It wasn't as inexpensive as the smaller manually regenerated models but what you get with this system is more accurate softening, minimal water usage for regeneration and a much simpler automated way to manage it. It's well worth the investment.

I wrote up my install on the rvtechmag site. Basically I added a cargo slide tray for a short half-depth compartment behind the Aqua-Hot, then added a deionizer, the water softener and brine tank and a Roadwave pressure washer.

We carry the Single On-The-Go water softener. Even though we have room for double OTG, There is a weight difference ~ 18# sgl ~ 32 # dbl (per Amazon’s info). So if you will be lifting it in and out of your cargo bay each time you set up / leave campsite the weight may be a consideration.

Otherwise, EZ to use and we are fine w single OTG. YMMV
