Water softness TDS
Hello everyone,
I am curious what sort of TDS readings you get with your current softener? I have a double standard model on the go. Using my cheapo TDS meter I am getting 149 in and 149 out at the OTG. Strange. When I take a reading at an inside faucet I am seeing 320. I drained the tank, backwashed and did a re-gen and still get the same 149 at the softener.

If you have high TDS before your water is softened by a whole-house water softener or conditioner, you will still have high levels of TDS after water goes through the softener. Water softeners do not remove TDS, they reduce hardness. See http://blog.watertech.com/total-dissolved-solids-tds/

To remove TDS, you have to use a deionizer system or osmosis filtration.

Duh, Why did I assume they were one and the same.

Well, the good news is that both my home and coaches R/O systems have super low PPM

Softener, Deionizer, and drinking water R/O systems are 3 different things.
I use on the go water softener when using the coach and have a fixed water softener in my home. Both soften the water as needed.
My home has well water that still will leave terrible spots on windows and vehicles. For washing the coach or cars I use a deionizer. If not I must dry carefully.
For drinking water at home I use a R/O system. I don’t have a R/O in the coach but my wife wants one at least for drinking water.

We have home master artesian RO systems in both the house and coach
