High amperage trips breakers. They are wired in series in the circuit. They don't see voltage.
The breaker protects the wiring coming from the source, not what's plugged into it.

A thin cord will get hot as the amps rise, causing low voltage. Like a brown out.

If your batteries are low, a 3 stage charger will charge up to 14.6 volts, while attempting to reach absorbsion voltage. Then it will drop back.

If your input, set at 5 amps, work's, what is the next setting your trying ?

Second question, is it a standard circuit breaker tripping or a GFCI breaker or the outlet GFCI button tripping ?

Trips the gfi on the main breaker box .. I think I have had it set to 10 amp and it won't trip ...
