Where do Lav and Kitchen Sinks Drain to

I hope I am wrong but it appears that my three sinks drain into the Black Tank. If so, isn't that kind of DUMB? Black tank fills fast and until you shower there is no Grey Water to flush drain hoses with. And Entegra wants to DRY CAMP in Big Sky this fall. I hope there is a fleet of "honey dipper" trucks if all Entegras are like mine. Can this be corrected???
Thanks guys.

Several manufacturers plumb the bathroom sink to black ( I think ). It's a real downer if you have several sinks that go to black.
Obviously there are work arounds for boondocking but that's not what I would want with a new coach.

I guess it depends on floorplan and year. On our '15 Anthem 42DEQ the kitchen sink and shower go to the grey tank while the two lav sinks go to the black with each tank being 50-gal. That was quite a surprise to me as well. I got some plumbing diagrams to see if I could change it, but looks like it would be a huge job.

I thought they changed all sinks to drain to grey and changed tank sizes to 60-grey/40-black for 2016, but maybe not on all models/floorplans? (edit: or maybe that was for '17?)

Pete

On a 44B floor plan, kitchen sink to gray, half bath to black. I want the half bath to go to black because as soon as I dump black and flush with gray, I re-fill my black to 20-25% with fresh water so black always has lots of liquid in it. You don't want black to be highly solids. I refill using the half bath sink.

Now, I did 10 days of boondocking at Quartzsite (see stickey at top of forum) and I used water conservation methods on gray but nothing different in black and we did not dump the entire time at Quartzsite and dumped only the day after we left when we stopped in California. My experience was not unusual, I saw only one coach go to dump and he stayed one day longer than I did. You will be amazed at how long, and easily you can go when boondocking.

Gary

2016's bath sinks do drain to grey, before that at least one bath sink in each model drained to the black tank. Noel

I did open black valve and try that. I'll have to make one more run at it to verify, but I think the kitchen sink and both sinks that are together in the lavatory drain to black.
Thanks.

I think you'll find the kitchen sink drains to the gray tank. Noel

They shouldn't be. Do that test to verify. If they do drain to the black tank I think that something got plumbed wrong. Prior to 2016 one sink would go to the black tank and both the black and gray tanks were 50 gallons each. In 2016 this was changed and all sinks now went to the gray tank, which was increased in size to 63 gallons while the black was reduced to something like 40 gallons.

The macerator toilets do use more water than the normal straight dump RV toilets so maybe that is giving you the impression that the sinks are dumping to that tank?

The open-valve test should tell you what you have. If it is plumbed wrong Entegra can correct that.

I have done that test but used the gray tank valve instead. Because of the macerator I used the bypass and watched water come out of the gray tank as each of the three sinks were turned on.

Our 2013 Aspire DEQ drained the kitchen sink to gray and the other sinks to black to increase liquid to solid ratio. As others said they changed the plumbing in later models and I know the various floor plans drained differently so try to find someone with the same year DEQ to be sure otherwise the answers will be all over the place.

That was the same thing that Ted Cook told me because of the number of people mentioning that the black tank was filling too quick.

When we dry camp, we use the 1/2 bath and limit hand washing in the 1/2 bath sink as it does go into he black tank. We have had no problem once we learned what drains where.

We were fairly new owners when we went to the new factory Ribbon Cutting last year and were kinda in shock after discovering that. I remember asking Ted about it and the look on his face was "that again :face palm: ".

I think the original logic must have been to protect folks from plugging up their black tanks, but that Techma toilet uses so much water that'll never happen anyway.
