A really nice day. Saw four bald eagles including one diving for and taking a fish from the river, several osprey hunting, and the highlight of the day...a black bear in the wild scavenging a dead salmon on the side of the river. And thanks all for your kind words.

Jerry's Jets in Gold Beach is a blast!!, Spinners Restaurant in Gold Beach has great food, and Fisherman's direct market ( next to Jerry's Jets) has good locally caught seafood ( Ling Cod is a treat)

Clarksville RV Resort, Clarksville, TN

This place makes a good overnight stop for anyone driving I26 north of Nashville. It is located less than a mile from exit 1. Clean, full hookups, good Wi-Fi ,and 100 foot pull-throughs. Don't even have to unhook if you don't want to. The only draw back is that the only thing between the campground and I26 is a single stand of trees. Thank goodness it is quiet inside an Entegra coach.

Notched another National Park on our travels today. Visited Redwoods National Park and took the 1.5 mi hike down to the redwood stand (change in altitude of 1000' in the 1.5 miles). As usual, feel like an old man...but the forest was beautiful and the trees magnificent. We are seeing the area while staying at Beachside RV Park at Brookings (our big rig sized pad at Harris Beach State Park might have worked for a pick up camper). Anyway, here is a pic of the redwoods and the beach view we have at Brookings OR. Leaving the wilds of SW Oregon heading to Summerfest and Wine Country RV Resort next week. It has been windy and cool, but Southern Oregon will definitely be on our return for a month list.

My parents have a beach house in Brookings.

We love visiting there and plan a trip this summer.

Caught 3 king salmon in open water but only about 500 yards off the south jetty of the Chetco river last July.

We watch the fishermen every day...seems to be a real live area for the commercial guys about the area you're talking, although I don't think it is quite Salmon season yet. We've seen grey whales every day as close as 100 yards off shore, but usually about 300-500 yards off shore. There are a few sea lions in the area and watching the diving birds is pretty cool as well. We're right off the exit of the Chetco River into the bay. The left jetty is about 200 yards to the right of our coach photo.

Now THAT's a beach view! And a BIG tree. Happy 39th.

Yea, the surf crashes about 40yards away at high tide. Really roars. We bit later on one of the touristed things in Klamath and did the drive through tree. Can't do it anymore at Yosemite. F-150 fill that sucker's cut out hole completely up. I guess $5 isn't too much for a picture that grandson #1 wanted!

We were at Hamlin Beach State Park. Nice and quiet during mid-week. Only one other camper in our loop.

Yes. Thanks for catching.

On a related note, we found another nice place for an overnight or 2 along I55 just north of Litchfield, IL; Kamper Kompanion RV Park. It is about 6 miles north of Litchfield, about 60 miles north of St Louis and 40 miles south of Springfield. Flat, gravel, full hookup pull through sites. They accept PA Mon-Thu.
