And usually makes a coach as dark as a dungeon.

There are certainly many ways to "skin a cat" each with pluses and minuses and cost differences !

Dark?

Dark as a dungon? Not really, Mr. Jones. The cover itself is white, it is a sun screen, not a soild sheet that blocks all light. It lets in about 20% light, deflects 80% of the light. With the cover on the outside the inside of the windshield is bright white during the day, and I don’t have passers by being able to peer in. From the inside the cover makes the windshield bright white. This shield keeps the windshield from heating up and making it a furnance inside, helps the a/c keep it cool. Now, drawing the inside shades makes it dark as a dungon, as you think. If you want light then simply keep the shades up on the other windows not facing the sun, hopefully yours have pull out awnings above them to keep the intense sun out but still let light in. Personally, I like the interior cool (and bright I might add) and not a sweat box. If I want to get sweaty and sun burned I’ll sit outside.

Hi all, has anyone made a windshield cover for a recent model cornerstone? Not sure if the windshield is the same on an Anthem & Aspire. I recently purchased a 2020 Cornerstone and being fairly handy thought about making one. Does anyone have a pattern I could borrow or an old or used magnashade that I might be able to use or purchase? Any tips on making one? If you have a Magnashade for sale please pm me. Thank you.

It is my understanding that all windshields of all Entegra Class A diesel pushers are the same size/shape, but be sure and check that

Our MS was purchased for a '13 Aspire. It has been promoted twice, and now resides on our '18 CS. Exactly the same fit.

Effectiveness?

Can any anyone quantify the difference their Magne Shade makes in temperature? I am doing a test with a shade cloth (don’t know the UV blocking power) over the front of the coach windshield today. Yesterday with coach facing WSW and night shade down cab temp behind shade got to 88, 96 outside in direct Sun.

Want to buy the Magne Shade but don’t want unreal expectations.

I have Magneshades and I believe in them, but I don't think I have ever seen quantifiable measurement of temperature drop from one side of shade to the other. Haven't even seen that data from the manufacturers, I don't think, and they are the people you would think would be pushing their data at us constantly. I doubt we are going to find "laboratory measurements".

Thanks, this shade material is only 80% so not a good comparison. It’s actually an awning shade extension.

Plenty of variables to determine the temperature difference based on Magna shade.

My HVAC definitely runs less when using the Magna shade on a sunny but moderate temperature day.

When I have really noticed the help in keeping the front of the coach cooler is when I am parked facing west and getting full afternoon sun on a hot day. My HVAC might have been working hard but the coach was more livable.

When parked facing north in the summer not much sun hits the windshield. The drivers window and door window Magna shade help more when parked that way.

If we are just stoping 2 or 3 days I do not use the magna shade unless it is hot out and we are parked facing west in full sun.

Thanks, I tried a 95% wheat color shade cloth today and it worked really well. 100°, bright Sun, outside. 78° inside. You can’t see much through the shade but that’s not important to me. I’ve read a lot of data sheets from different shade cloth manufacturers last night and there is a great difference in the amount of energy a dark color allows to pass through or absorb than a light color, of course. Unfortunately Magne Shade only offers black or dark brown color options for class A.

I agree with RVFun, coach facing mid to late afternoon Sun, we will see a 20° difference.
I find them worthwhile.
I actually removed them last winter to max out our solar gain. Texas was not overly warm…….

I am considering a Magnashade for our 2022 Anthem but I wonder if the value is there based on the way the current shades work. Both the day and night shade, drop down and then slide down the angled dash to very close to the windshield. The entire dash appears to be protected in the way.
It would certainly add another protective layer........
