Winegard traveler re-calibrate?

It's been super windy today is it possible that the Winegard gets knocked out of whack? Is there a way to reset its calibration other than just turning it off (stow) and turning it back on ? I've done that and it downloads the guide just fine and says it found a signal but all the channels say "partial signal loss" so its not quite getting a signal. Any suggestions appreciated.

Do you have an asterisk next to each of the satellite locations on the display? If so, the dish should be locked on to them. Possible tree or branch cover? You could also try resetting the receiver, that has worked for me in the past. Very windy in NM the last couple of days, so I leave the dish stowed.

The fix was to stow and re-set the dish about 3 times and when I did that everything seems to be working fine.

There is a recalibration process that the Winegard tech people can walk you through. I have spent a lot of time recently in the windy, blustery west and sometimes the wind does seem like it is going to blow around the coach and the antenna. However, I dont think that it alone will really knock you out of signal totally but your raise, stow, repeat is probably the right idea.

I thought maybe a gust of wind had knocked it out of whack but it seems to be working for now.

To save people a call to Winegard

The EL Calibration is as follows:

-Press and hold "enter" on the interface box until "enter user menu" appears.
-Press "select" to move the * next to yes, and then press "enter"
-Press "select" 2 times until the * is next to "installation" then press "enter"
-When asked for password, press "enter" 4 times
-Press "select" until the * is next to "calibrate EL", and then press "enter"
-Press “Select” to move the * to yes, then press ”enter”
-It will then say “calibrate el in progress”
-It will then say "on EL hard stop." Verify with customer If the satellite is still pointing straight up press "select" to move the * next to yes, and then press "enter"
-It should say calibrate EL success. Once it does press "enter"
-Press "select" until the * is next to "exit"
-It should now say "power off: yes/no." Press "select" to move the * next to yes and then press "enter"

Twice now while trying to stow the traveler the code EL Motor Failure has appeared. The process is quite simple. However, when it happened the first time I was somewhat puzzled and did not know what to do until I called my coach builder. I highly recommend keeping the directions handy to handle this problem when it occurs. From what I was told, it lost it's calibration and the process recalibrates so the unit will stow.

Had this issue a while back if you call the service number and leave an email address they will send you out the instructions quickly for your files. I try to keep a digital copy of all my manuals for future references, sure enough they'll be needed when least expected.

I always had great customer service from them with any questions.

Safe travels to all.

It happens to me at least once out of every three times I stow mine. I have the instructions wineguard sent and you would think I'd have them memorized by now, but no, I have to pull out the sheet every time and even then, takes me about 20 minutes to get the sequence done correctly.

When the EL Calibrate fault happens, the antenna will NOT store ... it has the pointy part of the dish pointed straight up and it will not turn off or stow or do anything else until you do the sequence so it can re-calibrate.
