Yet Another Goodyear Tire Blowout

Add me to the long list of people experiencing catastrophic blowout on my front axle Goodyear 295/r80 22.5 tires. No warning, only 22K and 5 years on the tire.

I'd read about the others and was planning on getting replacements soon -- unfortunately I thought I could get another 6 months out of them. Nope.

Very lucky to have no one injured and only minimal damage (~$10K).

If anyone out there still has the Goodyear 295/r80 22.5 RV tire on the fronts -- get them replaced now!

Weight of your front axle? Weight on left and right tire? Air pressure in said tire? Last checked? Total Weight of motorhome?

Tire pressure set to 125, checked previous day. Was about 7 hours into an 8 hour trip. Had just gotten off I-10 about 30 minutes previous, so luckily only going about 62 MPH.

Will admit to not knowing loading details, but the unit was not heavily loaded and fuel tank was at 1/3 (which sits right over front axle).

Immediately had both fronts replaced. Thank god for Luv's Truck Stop in Defuniak Springs, Fl. Brad did an excellent job!

Thank you for letting others know, WHY wait!? How many blowouts on Entegra's do Goodyear owners need before they do the right thing. Glad you are alright, sorry about the damage.

NO BETTER ADVICE HAS EVER BEEN GIVEN ON THIS FORUM, Imo.

EC, Spartan, and GY never would admit that this particular size and brand model was defective, but there are far too many reports from EC owners who know how to care for their tires, for them not to be defective. I believe there is more than one EC that was totaled by these POC tires blowing out.

I'm glad you were not injured. I am one of the lucky owners who read about the issue and replaced mine with TOYO, and never worried about again.

Curious, are Aspire 2017 owners with the Goodyear® G670 315/80R 22.5 fronts having any tire failures? I can't recall hearing of any running the GY 315's.

Might want to read though all of the posts and see if newer Aspire owners are willing to take the chance. Might be worth checking NHTSB site for complaints as well. Entegra changed to Michelin on all Aspires being manufactured. https://www.google.com/search?client...r+tire+failure

After the SECOND pair of GY 295/80-22.5 ALSO could not be balanced, even at at GY “Wingfoot” commercial tire center, I dumped them at less than 2 years old. A Love’s tire center bought them for 100.00 each to resell to truckers for trailer duty.

Had a buddy that had one of thje GY blow at 6000 miles while sitting still in his driveway. Heard the damn thing blow all the way at the other end of the neighborhood! This was a replacement tire provided at no charge by GY, to replace a failed drive tire that failed at 10k miles. This was his third GY tire failure on this coach. The firstwas a steer tire, 10k miles into new coach, did $25k in damage when it blew out (and a bit of banging about on a couple of cars beside him in the construction zone where it blew out).
GY finally replaced all 8 of his tires at no charge, brand of his choice. Needless to say, he is now rolling Michelin.
