It was 90 degrees here in Virginia and set the thermostat for 78 for all three zones on Cool, not Fan. Zones 2 and 3 generate cold air, while zone 1 does not. The fan is working, but the condenser does not appear to be working. So I try resetting the breakers to both the thermostat and the unit itself, to no avail. I call Entegra CS and they tell me that it is probably a bad condenser or thermostat. I have an extended warranty, so I pack up the coach and head to the nearby service center and they take it in and tell me that the Zone 1 air conditioning is working fine! They checked all the voltages on the unit itself and they are all at expected levels and the unit is kicking out cold air. I check and sure enough it is kicking out cold air. They tell me that it is probably the energy management system throttling back the Zone 1 condenser and that I should not try to run all three units at the same time. That doesn’t make sense to me, but the unit was working. We take it back to the campground and turn on the A/C in Zones 1 and 3 and just the fan in Zone 2. Working like a champ for several hours. We leave for a few hours. When we come back, Zone 1 is no longer kicking out cold air. Entegra CS does not have an answer for this. Am hoping that you folks might have some suggestions that I can try. In the morning, I plan to try and replicate the situation that resulted in it working for the service center, i.e., unplug from shore power, start the coach up, then turn the coach off and hook up to shore power again. Of note, Zone 1 would not kick out warm air when we used it for heat a month ago or so with the ambient temps in the 50s. Am not sure whether this is an inverter issue or energy management issue or what. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I am not much on AC or energy management syestems. But in response to your comment concerning "inverter issue", The inverter has nothing to do with the power of the air conditioners. They only run on ac voltage from shore power or the generator. Hope you get your issue resolved. These year models are known to have bad air conditioners. However they usually will trip the ac breakers.
Good luck.

Leg 1. 120V. 8A
Leg 2. 122V. 0A
60H
E0

Why is leg 2 not powered, drawing 0 Amps? Power is getting to your ems, but there is no demand beyond that. With all three ac units running, I'd expect draws in the 10-20 amps on each leg.

If your thermostat will allow, might try to put zone 1 on "High Cool" and "High Fan" if they are now set to auto.

You folks are awesome! Lots of great ideas for how to isolate the issue. I should have some free time today to work through most of the suggestions. I’ll provide an update.

Thanks!

Update - So, I cleaned out the filters and set it to High Cool and the Zone 1 A/C was working like a champ sending cold air into the coach with water coming from the drain from the compressor. It continued to provide cold air for well over an hour. So, then I shut it off and let it rest for 30 minutes before setting it to several degrees below what the temp was and then setting it to Auto. The fan kicked on, but the compressor did not engage. After 30 minutes of no cold air, I turned it off again, waited 30 minutes and then tried it again on High Cool. This time, no cold air at all.

So, I will check to see if it works again in the AM. If it does, then maybe we have a freezing issue with the compressor? I don’t know. Since this is so capricious and unpredictable, not sure what my next step should be.

Thanks!
Bill

Bill, I hope it is not the same as when mine went out, but it is acting the same way. Mine did the same thing for two days before it quit completely. I had a Freon leak freezing up the compressor. When all of the Freon had leaked out it stopped working. After removing the cover, it was not hard to see the problem, it was oily everywhere.

Well, I went up on the roof to check and there are no signs of leakage. Ran my hands across the tubes and no residue. Maybe a thermostat issue?

Thanks,
Bill
