229.52 Oil on sale?

It's getting close to the time for an oil change and last time we picked it up at a NAPA store while it was on sale. About $6 per quart.

Does anybody know if they will be having a sale on the MB spec 229.52 oil soon?

Called NAPA this morning. They located 3 each 5 quart bottles. Will pick up once they are in the local store, later today.

Thanks. Purchasing it while it is on sale makes the cost more manageable.

I wasn't aware it came in 5qt jugs. Good to know! I usually buy 14 1 qt bottles at Napa and they always have to order it for me.

Yea Boo. Got the three 5 quart containers. Got home and saw it was for gas engines. Called NAPA and they will round up some 1 quart of the ESP oil. Got to go back on Tuesday.

Nice drive, around 40 miles one way, so Tuesday will be during a work day which I hoped to avoid today. Too much in a hurry to get out of town and didn't think to look too hard. Lesson learned.

On sale by me

NAPA has Mobil 1 ESP for 6.99/qt in 0w30 or 5w20 right now. One near me always seems to have in stock.

I called the original store who told me that they had 7 quart bottles in stock and a nearby store will transfer another 5. Drove down and picked them up. Got home and saw that the other store's 5 bottles were mixed with one correct and 4 still the gas engine blend. But wait, there's more.

Called a different NAPA store, since my main store was tapped out, and they had a few bottles in stock. Returned the 4 gas suitable oil and picked up 4 diesel oil. The incorrect oil that I returned was only credited a a lower price since it was for gas engines. It cost me, again, to pay the difference for the correct oil that I had already purchased but didn't receive.

Lessons learned: 1) Part's counter people don't listen to details even though they acknowledged the make and model of vehicle, 2) have the parts person ring up each item to verify that you receiving the correct item, and 3) double check the order before leaving the store.

The home delivery would be nice, but I get 14 qts (instead of 13) + filter for ~$94 or ~$43 less.

229.52 Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 and 5w30 only

My engine originally used 229.51, Valvoline MST 5w40 -used for 3years. Ordered from NAPA last year, came in as "European Formula" 229.5 MB approval. Same "V966" part number. Valvoline dropped the MST oil but used same part number for new oil. MST no longer available. Last oil change I went to 229.52 Mobil 1..

So has anyone seen ant good deals on the Mobil. EDP 5w-30 recently? Amazon sellers are running about $8.50/qt plus tax. I have not found any 5 liter jugs locally in the Albany, NY area (yet).

As far as I know, the Mobil 1 ESP is not available in the 5qt jug. I just looked and NAPA currently does not have it on sale. I usually buy it when they have it for $5.99 but I think they have raised the sale price to $6.99. Amazon currently has the 0w30 for about $7.87/qt,
