Head Lights

The head lights on our 2015 Itasha Reyo are terrible. Don't normally drive after dark but recently I had too. The head lights were Terrible could hardly see. Had anyone replaced them and with what?

Lots of bulb replacements are available from ultra bright halogen bulbs to LED replacements. But before you do any of that, make sure the headlights are aligned properly - it might surprise you.

This will sound really dumb. We've had the 2016 Prism for almost 3 years and had never driven it at night. I was moving it from storage in the RV park to our site after dark and thought that the headlights were horrible.

I leave my switch set to auto, which turns on the DRLs only apparently. Got to our site, checked it out and saw I was driving with the DRLs only and not the headlights. While I have had much better headlights, once I got them turned on they weren't too bad.

While I don't have a lot of experience with RVs, I do have experience with other vehicles. I would suggest that you look into creating a new wiring harness, using heavier wire, and relays for each light set. This allows the light switch voltage to activate the relays, then the relays open to allow full battery voltage to go directly to the lights without passing through your RV's light switch which reduces that voltage. This is not as hard as it may sound and it ensures that you get full voltage to the lights. If your RV has the main voltage for the lights going through the light switch you will not get full voltage. In addition, without full voltage going to the lights I doubt any bulb change will make that much of a difference.

there are companies out there that have these harnesses already built or have kits to build your own, and come with optional bulb sockets so you can upgrade to better bulbs, halogens, LEDs etc.

Best thing to do is turn on your lights and see what voltage you have at the bulb socket. If it's not above 12 volts your bulbs are not getting full voltage....
