Maybe a Bronco toad with a Sprinter motorhome?

We have a Sprinter-chassis motorhome and are thinking of getting a new toad, perhaps a Bronco. The two-door Bronco weighs about as much as a two-door Jeep Wrangler, around 4,000 to 4,200 lbs. depending on trim. Quite a few Sprinter-based motorhomes, at least the V6 version, have been seen towing the two door Jeeps over the years.

My question is (to those who are actually doing it), how does a Sprinter-chassis motorhome with the V6 diesel perform with a toad weighing about as much as the GCVW specification is engineered for?

Appreciate you sharing your real-world experience on this.

Some old threads with various comments about towing in general and some specifics about towing a 2016 Wrangler JKU with a 2018 Navion (sister ship to yours).

https://www.irv2.com/forums/f280/tow...er-543327.html

Here's the search list I ran for towing my 2016 JKU with a 2017 Sprinter chassis. I may have grabbed some threads that aren't towing specific.
Sorry.

I could write a new thread entry, but I've done it so many times before.

Thank you! The thread from the first link was very helpful. The second link provided no matches.

Yes, I see that now. It did last night when I posted it.
Perhaps the forum blocked or otherwise interfered in the list.
It was quite full.
Try an advanced search on keywords "2018 Navion towing 2016 Wrangler Winterbagoal" to get a fresh list - should have plenty of hits.

Bottom line - Keep the speed around 60-65MPH when towing, and you should see around 13-14MPG with the 3.0L V6 turbo diesel/5 spd transmission combo.
I usually get around 15-16MPG not towing, so you'll lose about 2 MPG +/-. The speed you drive directly affects fuel economy on the Sprinter chassis, but you probably already know that.
As far as feel, I don't feel the towed on the flat, but it does affect general performance, uphill somewhat slower, downhill, I'm more concerned with braking, as you would expect.

Your rv has a 15,250 lb GCWR (maximum allowable combined weight of a motorhome used as a tow vehicle and the attached tow vehicle; this includes all passengers, cargo and liquids in each vehicle) per https://library.rvusa.com/brochure/2...ebago_View.pdf. Suggest weghing your loaded rv and toad to confirm.

Many people with Sprinters tow two door Jeeps without incident. Personally, I think that's reaching the tip of the weight scale but if you didn't load it up, you'll be fine.

Just make sure you weigh the whole thing the first time out to be sure..
Yeah it can tow 5K, but I wouldn't want to be close to it's max..

Good luck!
