Mercedes parts

I was changing the fuel filter on my 2017 Sprinter. It has the filter with the fuel water separator on the top. I broke the plastic retainer clip that holds the hose on the electric connecter on the top of filter. Dealer says they were $2, but no longer available. Complete hose is $42 and comes with the clip. He give me the part number for clip 0029929270 but every where I look they so no longer available. I was hoping someone on here has found source that may have them. Or has found Mc Giver fix. Thanks Mike

Try
mbpartshq.com
benzpartshq.com
I got spares for my 2017 cab chassis 2 years ago at online parts dealers like these sites. I had parts shipped to me from one in Ft Peirce FL and one near Chicago. They are sometimes affiliated with a nearby MB dealership. Good prices and fast shipping.

My solution was I found that a(fuel filter water drain port cap w/ clip) part number 000998112228 had the clip that I needed. Local dealer did not have it and and said he could not order it. I found it on-line at idparts.com, $3 plus $5 shipping. was hard to find, so it may be a discontinued part also. So if you have the filter with the fuel water separator line on the side be careful when you disconnect it.

What!!

How can parts for a 5-7 year old vehicle be discontinued, I thought manufacturers had to have parts available for at least 10 years.

Also available here....

and here.....

Mercedes parts/numbers are often superseded by a newer part/number. My usual dealership has cross referenced some for me before. Found the newer part and number. It's usually a minor change and the function is usually the same as the old one. In my limited esxperience.

I broke that clip too. Since the sides of the "U" hold the fitting, I slid the two pieces back in and put some tape across the top to keep it in place. So far, no problems.

Mercedes does have the part available. as part of the hose kit. They never miss an opportunity to upsell. Some Mercedes dealers won't work on a Sprinter anymore. All about the money.

I gave them my vin number and bought the hose. $44.50 The hose that they sold me had the wrong fitting on the end and would not connect to my filter.

Just ordered one from the MB dealer listed above. According to the parts guy you get the cap with the clip for $2 but the Fed-X shipping is expensive, $16 to NM from Tampa, FL. But its a good spare to have.
