2013 33.1 Palazzo. Just exstended the main slide. Just as it reached full exstend there was a loud pop. Now one end of slide does not move. Any ideas?

It is possible the slide hung up on something, or that the motors were out of sync and it jumped the track, or that a motor failed, or the motor cable got snagged and snapped.

The slide controller should be on the ceiling of the large compartment on the driver side. If you look at the controller it may be displaying flashing lights that indicate which circuit is a problem.

One light is red or green to indicate which motor, the other light will flash a number of times. The key to the number of flashes is on the front of the controller.

We had a similar situation. The difference was when we started to retract the big slide there was a loud bang. The motor by the drivers seat would not move the slide. Per the mobile tech the bracket that holds the motor in place broke. By manually holding the motor down, think he used a block of wood, he was able to retract the slide. Finished the trip w/o use of the slide.

In our case because of this and other issues the entire slide mechanism had to be replaced. As i recall Schwintech does sell just the bracket.

That is the first time I have heard of the motor bracket failing. The motor is held in place on the top of the motor shaft by a single screw that goes through to the outside. If that screw failed the motor would pop up vertically.

After three cable issues and one failed motor I am still learning about this system. Thank you for adding to that knowledge.

Was the original replaced with the upgraded triple track?

Had a tech come out. The motor had popped out. Took him only a few minutes to reinstall. Cost $100.

It has been proven time and time again that the large heavy slides don't work well with the schwintek systems. Family member has a 2013 palazzo that required a full system replacement on the large slide. After replacement, the slide failed again after about 10 cycles. This time, the drive gear schredded a tooth on the drive gear which totally chewed up the track. These gears are manufactured by casting the gears instead of machining. Still waiting for a replacement to date.
My unit is a new 2021 tiffin that used a schwintek system on the large slide. After it failed several times, the factory at Red Bay told me it could not be fixed using the schwintek system, so they replaced it with the Vroom system under warranty. My large slide probably weighs about half of what my family members Plazzo slide weighs!
I haven't seen a problem on the small bedroom slides.

The Schwintek system on my 2018 33.2 large slide has been good for what has to be 75 cycles. Not saying it is the best but if you keep up with lubrication and roller / plates maintenance it does work. It needs to stay smooth, no jerking or catching. The heavy slide is concerning. Triple track is a must. The overall simplicity of design though is both a strength and weakness.

My previous Coachman motorhome had a Power Gear slide that failed a motor and several shear pins. It was definitely beefier than Palazzo but I did have to push it manually in twice. So far no failures on Palazzo.
