Magnum ME-ARC remote on Firefly network

I saw this reply by HaRVey 74.5 in the other thread here:

https://www.irv2.com/forums/f281/mag...ml#post5136603

did not want to hijack it.

The reason my battery type says Custom, is because I changed to LiFePo batteries and used a separate ME-ARC controller to access and set custom parameters that are not available via the Firefly panel.

Question to HaRVey - how did you connect Magnum remote? Did you have to disconnect ME-RVC bridge?
If yes, did you disconnect it temporarily to program inverter, or permanently? Do you know were all parameters are being stored? Inverter, or RVC bridge, or remote?
Thanks Mike

Did you get this answered? I have the same question. I am considering Lithium but want to keep the ease and functionality of Firefly. I contacted Firefly and they had no idea what I was talking about regarding "custom" settings. They said that they just create the software on the screen that allows for "custom" battery to be selected but the inverter has the settings inside....which means I would need an ME ARC to set the parameters for charging. Seems like that would have to be temporary because hooking up both the ME ARC and the firefly would possibly send conflicting messages to the inverter/charger. Did you solve this issue? How? I am also thinking about a magnum BMK and wondering about the same issues on hooking it up and using firefly. Have you investigated that?

No, did not get answer. My question was hypothetical, in preparation to my future RV. My 2015 Palazzo doesn't have Firefly, just Magnum ME ARC remote.

Mike,
FYI, I just got off the phone with firefly and emailed with Magnum. The bottom line is if you connect a Magnum ME RC remote, adjust the settings, then they disappear once you plug back in the Firefly so "custom" battery settings cannot be set on this version of Firefly. Here is the email from Magnum today:

Subject: RE: From Contact Us | Tech Support

Ed
If you contact fire fly and they can tell you how to adjust their custom settings. Our inverter is capable of any custom settings they can put in their control panel. If you installed our ME-RC control panel and download the settings, they will not stay in our unit when you plug back into fire fly.

Thanks Ed, not what we wanted to hear, but good info. There maybe other option ($$$), to replace Magnum MS2012 with MSH3012RV. This inverter has RV-C port and doesn't require separate RV-C module. The manual description of parameter saving function somewhat un-clear to me. See page 54 here:
https://www.magnum-dimensions.com/si...V%20Series.pdf
Perhaps another question to ask Magnum?

The manual says: Once programmed, the settings are saved in the remote’s
non-volatile memory and are preserved until changed—

This implies that settings are in the ME RC remote so if you disconnect remote and attach firefly you will lose those settings and/or the firefly settings will over ride them

Sorry, I was talking about page 54 of the pdf, section 3.12. The note there says:
Info: This inverter has the ability to receive settings and commands from only one device at a time. If both a RV-C network and remote control are connected to the inverter at the same time, both can receive information from the inverter, but the inverter will only receive settings and commands from the remote control.
So, if we kept both remote and RV-C network connected, inverter would send status to both, but receive settings from the remote. I don't know what kind of functionality would be lost commanding inverter from the Firefly, but remote would do all we need, not as aesthetically pleasing as a color screen, but still.
Wondering if it would work?

Good catch. Well, maybe i better irder a remote and try it. I will also look at BMK. DOES BMK alter any of this plan?

I don't think so, BMK is an accessory to the inverter, not network controller.
You can buy remote and try, but you probably have ME2012 inverter. That manual we are quoting is for MSH3012RV. All we hear from Magnum, Firefly, Spyder, etc. that RV-C and remote can't coexist on the same network.

That spliter is the only option, except for MSN3012RV inverter. It has dedicated connector for RV-C network leaving phone connector available for the remote.

I do have the ME2012 unit. Hate to have to drop $200+ on one of the A/RP50 remotes to find out if the splitter would work. It's time for me to contact Firefly/WBGO.
Thanks for weighing in.

Just got email from Firefly sales. They can "custom program" my firefly system to send commands for the custom settings for the ME2012 for lithium batteries. I just need to hand over $650 for them to program that functionality.

Ask them to program ability to control AGS by state of charge from the BMK module.
