New mod for Palazzo

The other damage included the A/C fan and condenser which was directly behind the impact point plus the R/H front storage compartment opening was bent but the door remained closed. The deer traveled underneath down the passage side under the front and rear wheels and under both front and rear tires of the toad. As I said, blood and gut everywhere. I still need to inspect all the storage compartments on the R/H side for damage.

As I learn more I will share...

Thanks again!
Jack,

I bet there is a way to retrofit this onto a Palazzo! I like this mod better:

Glad everyone is ok. Here is the guard I purchased from Summit Products in Altoona, Iowa Summit Products: your source for motorhome products last year. Hope I never have to try it out.

Is that attached to the fiberglass or to the chassis behind it?

It is attached to the fiberglass. Manufacturer used a large hammer on a demo model and hit it and it just bounced off. I know it wasn't like a deer but it is better than nothing.
If you go on their website you can read about testimonials from those that have had objects hit it.

It is hinged so I can get at the generator and so you can clean behind it.

It would be interesting to see how well it would do in a deer hit like Jack experienced. IMHO, either way there would still be a lot of damage. I think the guard would hold up a lot better then the fiber glass it is attached to.

After seeing this damage, I may just fab a lite weight cattle guard that will mount to the receiver hitch I installed behind my license plate for those mountain pass trips.

Added a "child proof catch" to the top of the linen drawer for the back of our 36.1

Ours would open when driving. Also added a big nylon washer to the fridge screw retainer..covers both doors now and won't scratch anything.

Adding air horns tomorrow and a CB radio...yeah I know, who uses those anymore but I like it on the interstate - especially if there are slow downs.

Also temporarily added a security system with motion detectors...and added warning labels to all the windows. I think the labels actually helped when a lot of units were broken into last winter at storage...had tracks up to my door but all was OK...the other units had the door windows broken for entry.

I'll use a couple of jump start units to run the security system when I put it into storage...it doesn't call out but does make a lot of noise.

Installed and calibrated my Safe T Plus steering stabilizer (it took 2 adjustment to find the neutral position)... It does cut down on the constant steering dramatically. Thumbs up on this mod!

Jack,

Glad you guys are ok. I was at Thor one time and they were fixing a coach that got rolled by a tornado . I do not know if the timing would work but I think they do a good job.

Thanks Steve! I am working with Thor and they will be doing the repair and I will be delivering the coach to them on the 31 st of July. My insurance has already sent me a check based on Thor's estimate. Thor was very responsive and everyone was great to work with.

I wish I could get it in the shop sooner but I have other non-RV travel to do so it isn't that bad. The DW and I get on a plane for Europe this Thursday and we will be gone for the next 3 weeks. We are only missing 2 previously schedule RV trips.

Take care and safe travels!
