Greenville RV Show
When we decided to get an RV we did not follow the conventional wisdom of going to multiple RV shows and searching for the perfect floor plan and going to several dealers to test drive multiple models. Instead we consulted with neighbors who have RVs, looked at a lot of online information, and quickly came to the conclusion we wanted a DP and a Palazzo looked like it would be a good fit. We only did one test drive of a gasser to be sure of what we had heard about the differences, drove one Palazzo and one other larger DP before making a decision.
So yesterday was the first time an RV show was close enough for us to go visit. After reading so much on iRV2 and other sources about how great the Newmars, Entegras, Itascas, etc. are I was curious to see how much difference there was and what I could see that I might apply to the Palazzo.
I am happy to say that I do not see the cost-effectiveness of paying $200K more for those higher end coaches. I really don't need or want 4 slides and room enough for 12 people. Some of the driver seats were so soft and squishy it was like sitting on a marshmallow. I don't need to sleep in the drivers seat and prefer something feeling more secure when going around curves. I still don't like the front entry.
The only things I really liked were some of the details we lack in the Palazzo. I saw some very interesting refrigerator and cabinet latches that give me ideas for those places that could use a bit more security.

+1... I noticed the same thing, the details are nice, but cant justify the +$50K price. I personally didnt like the "Waldorf" feel of those expensive coaches. Id be afraid to get it dirty.

Agree
Would like to see an electrical outlet on the outside passenger side in front of back wheel.
Light in stair wheel.
Water pump switch in the bathroom.
Maybe an auto Fan-Tastic vent fan. Wife can not reach the vent fan controls! May have to make a mod on this.

Are you saying the outlet in the basement storage on the passenger side is not enough? I think an exterior outlet could present weather exposure issues.
Am I doing something wrong with the water pump? I just leave it turned on when we are not connected to water and it runs on demand. Should I turn it off between times of using water?
Vent fan controls are a stretch for me too and I am not short!

electrically it shouldn't drain anything... I would turn it off when the RV is not in use (storage) or low water level...

Hello, just reading through the thread. After a long hard search, we ordered a Palazzo 33.3 with Olympic cherry, Summer Song with the Galleria paint. There was not much for additional options, but we did do the external TV, front overhead bunk and invisible bra.
The biggest selling points for me on the Palazzo, which echo most of the sentiments already submitted:
- the size and drivability
- the bunk layout and flexibility (much better than the Berkshire 390BH)
- the usefulness when buttoned up on the road. Many of the 3 or 4 slide models were almost unusable unless parked and expanded.
- bedroom layout - great use of space
- and, it is a very nice looking RV
We are really looking forward to picking it up at the end of April !
On our order, they indicated a couple of things. First, that it would be a 2014 which had a couple of changes. First, something about frameless windows and some type of chassis update. Has anyone else heard about the updates?

Congratulations on your selection of the Palazzo! We are looking forward to hearing more from you. As for any upgrades to the chassis for the 2014 model year…I have not heard of anything. BTW, your Thor Palazzo may be a 2014 model year but your chassis may only be a 2013 based on the way chassis are delivered to Thor by Freightliner. I have a 2013 Palazzo that I picked up end of June 2012 but the chassis was built in February 2012 on 2010 model year specifications. When I picked mine up it had 549 miles on it and all of these miles were put on it from Thor to the dealership and the dealership took it to the Louisville Good Sam Rally where I made my purchase. We love our and I hope you will feel the same about yours?

Furance
What do you think of the jet engine furnace we have?
Wakes me up when that thing fires off.
Wonder why there's no heatpump/HIVAC system in the Palazzo.
Anyone know?
