You would think that THOR could identify those coaches that have the smaller motors and notify the owners AND provide a kit to up-grade the slide gear. Just my thought.

Thanks for the comments, and yes, you would think they'd have some sort of unified response, instead of waiting for the failures to occur. Oh well, hope this time is a charm!

Well the DW and I put up a deposit on a 2014 33.2 today. Scheduled to take delivery October 7th. We have been driving a Winnebago Via for about a year and a half and love it but wanted to upgrade. We purchased the Via from Forrest City, IA (home of Winnebago) and got a great deal. I saw were several forks had purchased from Total Value RV in Elkhart and were happy, so we thought, why not. Well Total Value is making it worth the trip to Elkhart from Florida.
I have a few of questions: I don't see that the Palazzo has a surge protector, is that correct?
Second, the DW and I spend a lot of time in state parks that only provide 30 amp service. I have seen a plug that have a 30 amp male plug and a 15 amp male on one end and a 50 amp female plug on the other. The story is that you are then getting almost 50 amps out of the 30 & 15 that is on some of the hook ups. Has any one tried using one of these? In the alternative, how much can you run on just the 30 amps?
Third, I see several folks talking about going to the Factory repair service in Elkhart. I am going to be in the neighborhood, so I thought it would be prudent to at least have them check the slide and maybe some of the other things I see on the forum as being repeative problems. I cannot find anything on the Thor web site about the factory repair service. Help.
Looking forward to changing my signature soon.

Don't believe the protector is internal on the 2014. We use a portable 50 amp surge guard.
We use a 50-30 amp adapter for 30 amp power. I've found that you can run most everything except both ac units. U r limited to just one ac.
Call the Thor service center for an apt. Understand they are booked until Dec.

Thanks for your volunteering. Nice to see my son getting a better reception coming home than we got 40 years ago.

I stopped by Total Value Rv a couple of months ago window shopping. Knowing that I am a couple of years away from buying, Dave Olsen spent 30 minutes with me window shopping Thor and Georgetown bunkhouses. That impressed me. Most dealers rush me once I am honest about whether they will make a sale that day.
I recently attended a rv show at the Hall of Fame and Museum and the Forest River rep couldn't say enough good things about Total Rv's service department.
That being said, they have 5-6 hook ups just outside of their fence that you can use for free to shake down a rig that you buy from them. Also, visible just next door, there is a campground that you could use if you would like.
If you would like to drive it for awhile, the 80/90 toll road is a few miles south of them. Head east about 60 miles and you can go to the Jellystone campground and shake it down, figure out what needs fixed and drive back.
Cheers

Ok as to Total Value in Elkhart (great Dealer). I m actually at their shop today getting a Jack TV antenna installed.
There most likely won't be a surge protector on your 33.2 when delivered unless you have Total Value install one. I hard wired mine under the bed inside the coach.
50 amp or 30 amp. Your coach will come with a 30 foot long 50 amp cord. You can adapt a jumper from 30A to 50A that works fine. I purchased a 30A cord that is 30 foot long that plugs into the coach. Much lighter to carry around and hook up.
90 % of the time I run on 30A I can run most everything on 30A. Only one AC at a time. We ran the washer , dryer, and AC two nights ago and didn't have any problem there. I generally wouldn't run that much just didn't realize the DW had the dryer going too.

+2 for Dave...he spent a good bit of time with us before we went for the factory tour. We were looking for a 33.1 and he checked and couldn't order one for us.

Indeed ... if you're flying out of or through Charlotte airport, make sure you stop in and take advantage of what you, Tom (TCopeland) and your son have earned. All you need is a veterans/active military/dependents ID, and you are welcome to the center.

There's a 36.1 at Hersheypark Camping Resort in PA tonight. I am wondering if it's anyone from this group.

Yep
Attach/locks to the power cable. Lock the pedestal with a cable lock.
