Solar controller location

I'm preparing to install a MPPT Solar Charge Controller in my 2014 Thor Palazzo for use with two, 100 watt portable solar panels. Where did you install your charge controller? Pics would be great.

Rear left wall of battery compartment, above the house batteries. However it is hard wired to four 120 watt panels mounted on roof, not portable panels.

There are two types of portable panels: those with a built in solar controller and those without. Sounds like yours are without which is good.

Use an SAE socket, sometimes called a Zamp connector, installed on the outside of the coach near the batteries and wire an MPPT solar controller between the socket and the batteries. Find a close by place to mount the solar controller where you can see it easily. Use at least #10 gauge wire to limit voltage drop, bigger if the run is more than 10'.

Your solar panels should have at least 50' of cable. Wire the panels in series and then wire the coach end to the SAE connector. Make sure that the polarity is right.

We have a 2017 Thor Venetian, and it, like many other Thor products, came pre-wired for solar. The controller on ours is located on passenger side rear outside compartment along with other electronics. That compartment also has a thermostatically controller fan. One of the best upgrades we did when we bought the coach. We have 3 panels and I believe total just under 300 watts.
Wish I had more but that is what it was pre-wired for and already had the controller in place. Not sure about Palazzo but wouldn't be surprised if it was pre-wired somehow as well.

The Palazzo's were not pre-wired for solar in 2014, it was a couple years later that became standard. What size pre-wire they did in later years I don't know.
