Thus far we have not had a problem with the slides on our 36.1. Purchased in June, it is a 2014 but has the aluminum shafts. We estimate that we have run both slides in and out about 36 times. We always level the RV before operating the slides. The tech during the PDI advised me to always run the slide motors until they fully stall out. They do make alot of popping and grinding noises. I wouldn't have known of a slide issue without the Forum.
I don't think that having a great service outlet at Thor is a positive. It only emphasizes how poor service is at the Dealers.
I do not think you should spend this amount of money and have to constantly wonder when the slide will quit.
We love the 36.1 floor plan, the middle entry door and the DP. I've got my fingers crossed that our slide will not fail. I'd feel better if Thor would take some positive action and issue a service letter of some kind.
Nervous but liking our Palazzo,

How many buy the extended warrantee? Our delivery date is coming this or first of next week. Pros cons? I'm sure they're going to bring it up.

Today I stopped at a Loves truck stop to buy DEF. Since my 33.2 Palazzo has the tank on the passenger's side I planned to use two 2 1/2 gallon red plastic fuel containers. Long story short, I could not use the containers. There is a special magnet that a tank or container must have to allow the nozzle to work. Furthermore, the attendant said that my gasoline containers were wrong. I found the magnet OPW 21Gu Mis-Filling Prevention Device - MFPD
but I am still unsure about containers. The attendant offered to help me and I believe he was going to use the DEF from the adjacent lane. Do the hoses usually reach that far? If the hoses won't reach what container is suitable?

Typically color of containers is red is for gasoline and yellow is for diesel. But the more important issue is that you don't cross contaminate. I use a yellow container for DEF that has never been used for anything else and never will, plus it won't get confused with my lawn mower gas in red containers.

Me too. Use a 5 gallon yellow jug.

Thanks and thanks to Tom also. My red containers are new and will only be used for one thing. My best guess is that they are polyethylene and should be resistant to gasoline, diesel fuel, or DEF. I will look into the yellow containers. At the service station they suggested buying 2 1/2 gallon DEF in containers and keeping the container. How have you managed the magnet issue?

Not had a problem filling the container.
Problem with the 2 1/2 containers is cost . $11-12 for the jugs, $2.50-$3.00 at the bulk pump.

Hi, I am a DP wantabe. I don't understand this "magnet" thing in the DEF tank filler or in the DEF nozzle....I guess this keeps you from putting diesel in the DEF tank or ??
You folks mention using yellow containers, etc and I understand this as I do with my diesel tractor and gas lawn mowers....different colored containers for my different fuels.
Do you fill your yellow container and then fill the DEF tank as the DEF hose doesn't reach in most cases?
I am trying to learn all I can about DP motorhomes before I buy. Thanks for any info.

Loves has a DEF nozzle that requires a magnet to activate. DEF tanks should have the magnet installed already. The purpose of the magnet is to prevent DEF going into diesel tanks by mistake. The 2 1/2 gallon containers of DEF are high priced and I hope to never need them. The idea of buying one would be to keep the container for later use. I don't know if the containers are heavy duty enough to warrant reuse. So far I have found that the understanding of DEF in at service stations and RV manufacturers is all over the place. For example my DEF tank is on the wrong side. Some service stations use the magnet activated nozzle and some don't. I am going to check my DEF tank to see if it has the magnet. I would not be surprised if it didn't.

Have not tried a Loves. Usually hit a Pilot/Flying J. I've filled my 5 gal jug at the bulk pump with no problem.
You are right anoint the tank on the wrong side on the 2013 coach. Understand it's been switched on the 2014.
Yes, I fill my def tank from the jug when needed. A pita!

It was my bad luck to run into Loves for my first attempt at buying DEF where they used the magnet nozzle. OTOH I learned that some stations use the magnet and I will be prepared. MY 33.2 is a 2014 but didn't get the driver's side DEF tank. I have heard that they have made the change after my unit.

DEF will not affect plastic containers.
The advantage of bulk is that it is less expensive than the boxes, which are least expensive at WalMart.
I have been looking for a less expensive version of the magnetic ring to defeat the interlock since all the bulk pumps in my area won't let me pump into a container.

I have seen the magnet ring for $26. As the saying goes it isn't rocket science but it is hard to know just what magnet to substitute. I will do a little more research. It might be one of the very powerful ceramic magnets and that would make it hard to cobble up a substitute. A one time cost of $26 isn't too bad. Even if I could use a DEF pump from the next lane at times, it would be best to have the magnet to take care of the issue when needed. Thanks for the reassurance about the plastic container. Everything tells me that the red plastic gas containers will be fine.

I have been able to fill my DEF tank from the hose on the next lane every time I have needed DEF on my 33.2.
