Thor Palazzo - anyone drive/ride in one yet?

Anyone have any real-world on-the-road feedback on the new Thor Palazzo yet?

Love the look of them, but so far nothing on the 'net I've found about any ride/drive experiences.

Would a short diesel like this still ride better than a new gasser of similar length (~34')?

Thanks, in advance, for any feedback!

Hello fellow NJ-ite! We're right outside of Philly.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Palazzo!

Yeah? Where? I'm in Turnersville. Hey, Dylan's in Sewell is the local Thor Dealer. I have to go there today. I'll check if they have a Palazzo coming in.

Good to know about Dylans! (I sent you a PM)

I keep seeing Palazzos being sold, so I hope someone will chime in here at some point!

Small Class A Diesel Pusher

I'm an ACE owner and while I was at the dealership getting my coach ready for my trip to Arizona I took one our these out for a a test drive at Total RV. Let me tell you that coach can get up and move, there is plenty of horse power to spare. I will caution you the brakes are excellent. It had great road manners and pulling through the narrow lot at the dealership the turning radius was impressive. I really have nothing but good things to say, but I was satisfying my own curiosity. I first got a look at this diesel pusher down at the Tampa Show.

As for the low profile chassis, I didn't even think about it. I guess it's a good trade off for parking it my the barn...(being under 12')

I remember the living seating space was real good, the even space around the bed was nice, even with the pop-out in. The cargo bay was massive, shower was huge, my wife really liked the wet storage by the entry. Overall I was impressed especially when you see the price an think "Cheap Motorhomes".

I would expect since the Palazzo is a small diesel motorhome with an engine that does not break a sweat that it should be fuel efficient.

I did find a really nice and detailed walk around review of the Palazzo with virtual tours:
2013 Palazzo Small Class A Rear Diesel Pusher Motorhome http://blog.thormotorcoach.com/finally-an-affordable-rear-diesel-class-a-motorhome/

I wish you luck.

How lucky that you have a barn to park it in! Ours has to rest in a storage lot when it's not in the driveway (hence why a 34' looks really attractive to us right now - no rush to pack and unpack!). The bottoming-out is still a crap shoot - I guess we won't know until we know.

Thanks for the feedback on the test drive - it's very encouraging!

I've also take a look at Fleetwood's competition to the Palazzo (the Excursion 33a), but I keep coming back to the Palazzo. I'm just glad there are some quality entry level diesels coming out that can now be in the running for our next rig!

Thanks again for chiming in and hopefully some others will join in too as more of these get sold...

I am also looking at this short diesel and waiting for more reports on a test drive. The only negative item that I detected on this vehicle is the water tank capacity.
It is listed as only 50 gallons which make extended dry camping challenging.

I completely agree about the tanks and am still on the fence about that too. We do several long weekends a year (with guests), so that is a factor. However, oddly enough the tank sizes are comparable to what we have now in the TT and we've managed pretty well thus far with those sizes. Obviously I'd rather have something more like 80fresh/60 gray which would make everything much easier in general...

It seems that (to a comparable sized gasser), the Palazzo is about 4k lbs heavier. I wonder if that's enough to not get pushed around by cross-winds on the road.

i looked at a new one at leos rv in glen burnie md, and it looked pretty nice. the main thing i didn't like was the outside storage doors,as most of the older units with those door setups were prone to get moisture in around the edges and delamination problems occured.

If you haven't already seen this video...this is the best Palazzo walk-through I've seen so far:

I have this on my short-list of RV's that I'm considering when the time comes that I can start FT'ing!

There is a dealer that is about 130 miles from me that has one. I would like to go see it but it is hard to justify going there just to look at it.

I just got back from looking at the Palazzo. That is a very nice rig. I didn't get a chance to drive it as I know that would only add fuel to the fire... The DW was working so she doesn't know what I did today. I'm sure she will once she notices the brouchure I picked up about it.

There's a new floorplan too, the 33.2. It's not on the Palazzo website yet, though. Looks like actual rigs with this one won't hit dealer lots until May or June...

Here's a random link to see that floorplan: New Thor Motor Coach Palazzo for sale in Alvarado TX | 2013 Thor Motor Coach Palazzo 33.2 Diesel RV for Sale W/2 Slides Diesel Pusher For Sale from Motor Home Specialist in Alvarado Texas
