Time to change my air filter

Hello Palazzo friends. It is time to change my air filter, thinking of doing it myself. Does not look real easy to get to? Any words of advice out there.....

If it’s like mine, it’s a large disposable canister/filter from Cummins, for about $100
under the chassis rear driver side

Just had mine replaced. Let Freightliner Shop do it. It’s a tough area for my old bones.

Make sure the big rubber hoses are slid on to the proper spot and the clamps are properly aligned and tightened.

If the turbo side is wrong and slips off the canister, you stand a good chance of dusting ( pulling exesse amounts of dust into ) the engine.

That will cause loss of compression, high oil consumption and engine failure.

Hey Mister T. I located the filter canister the other day. Does the entire metal canister get replaced or just an insert filter, re-using the metal housing if you will ?

Also - Another camper told me about the commercial K&N built specifically for this engine - K&N 38-2006S

But not sure about this being the part number but a quick google scan looks like:

1. a healthy debate on the use of one of these - I've had many of these in my race machine, and all vehicles (Except the Palazzo obviously)

2. a better replacement design for the next time with easier access to pull the filter - wash and re-install?

Thoughts/comments/part numbers - welcome !
THANKS!

Use of K&N filters may void engine warranty , check your owners manual or talk with Cummins .

Mine seems to be a little smaller in size, and of course $50 more ha. Mister T how often do you replace your filter?
