12K and I need tires?
Our '20 21RWS has maybe 12K on it, at most. Zero in the last year due to my wife's health issues. I took it out yesterday for a little 4 day jaunt and halfway to my destination I noticed the left rear tire had zero tread on the inside and not a lot left on the outside. The right rear was a little better but not a lot. Both front axle tires are fine! So do I have a bent axle or did a shift change accur at the factory after they checked the front tires' camber and the rear fell through the cracks? Luckily I'm in Lone Pine, CA where there's a super guy who helped us out about 12 years ago. He's going to look at it today and at least put two new ones on so I can get home to find a new axle. Hopefully it will only need a camber adjustment but Murphy might have a say. It would be odd that the rear got bent going over something but the front didn't. I have had it in a few rough spots but when doing so I thought I was taking it easy. I mean I bought a 'Backcountry' so I could indulge my boondocking desires. If anything it is more likely due to getting it in and out of my driveway. I bought some of those expensive heavy duty rubber curb ramps but not until it had gone over our sizable curbs a few times.
Thanks in advance. I will report back!

Same thing happened with our 2020 280KVS. Rear axle was defective. Dealer replaced for free. Dexter seems to be reasonably generous replacing these defective axles.

litzdog, thanks! I wonder how willing they'll be to replace a 3 year old one?
Pretty weird if I got one good and one bad one. You have any idea what
made them 'bad'?

I would have the axles inspected by a quality suspension/alignment facility. And I would bet that an axle alignment will fix you right up.
Good luck!

I was told by our dealer that it's a common issue with Dexter axles on all trailer brands, not just ORV.

So the axle looks good and there's no camber adjustment on it any way so the tire guy said the only remaining causes, other than an axle defect, were under-inflation and/or running with the trailer's nose too low since it was the rear axle. That makes the most sense to me and I've probably been guilty of the latter. I guess I need to change my hitch setup. This short trip was a test spin of my new Shocker hitch. It was amazingly smooth, just like they claim, but its highest ball position is even lower than my Equalizer. Shocker offers a higher ball attachment but it's only 2-3" higher and I think I need more like 5". I'm going to see if they will make a custom one. I doubt it so I guess I'm looking at air bags. If it isn't one thing it's two or three more, right?

Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but I engaged a similar conversation last year or so regarding my real life findings. My trailer was almost three years old when we purchased it and the first year discovered RR TT outer tire was wearing excessively. I got rid of the CCP bombs and put GY Endurance tires on and every two years rotate the tires, remove brake drums, repack and check the Bearings. No problem since!...I still have questions regarding bent axles in that with all the shock absorbers, links, axle flex itself, etc. for the axles to bend would almost have to also cause structural damage to the trailer itself (but I have been wrong before) . And as the axles are fabricated in fixtures, the error rate should be really low?...Just my $0.02. Cheers!...
