2021 ORV East Coast Rally

2021 Outdoors RV East Coast Rally

We are set to rally 23-27 September at Chapman State Park in the Allegheny National Forest.

The address for mapping is 4790 Chapman Dam Rd, Clarendon, PA 16313

Reservations are now open at the website:

https://pennsylvaniastateparks.reser...&parkId=880104

Note that the Upper Loop will be closed during our rally. They are installing full hookups on the hill. The Lower Loop, where we will be, is open and is also pet friendly.

Diane and I will be in site 28.

Reserve America has fairly good descriptions of the sites. The main loop is really two areas; the more open area with fewer trees around the playground, and then the more wooded sites beginning with #11 around to #35. Sites 38-43 are also nice as they are surrounded by grass. The frequent campers and rangers seem to favor 17-20, with 18 being tucked in the trees and very private.

I'll request the moderator make this a sticky. The Where and When thread will be closed.

Hope you all can book soon!

ATTENDEES LIST Updated when we get confirmation from a member.

Have fought with RA for two hours trying to make reservations with no success. We will be signed up as soon as I can get the RA site to cooperate. We missed the last two, but are anxious to meet other ORV owners, and excited about this year's location. We lived just up the road near Kane, PA for twenty some years.

Nickie and I are on site 22. Booked dates 21st-27th. We really enjoyed the 2020 rally.
We lucked out on the timing for the rally, We have a family/fishing trip planned for the 15th-19th at Kring Point State Park. Beautiful park on the St.Lawrence river.

Not 100% sure we can make it, but we've booked site 24 for Sept 21st, departing on the 27th. As some of you know, the wife and I are still working... helping to fund the social security system. If we can manage to get the time off, we'll see you there.

We are in. Site 26 arriving 9/22 departing 9/27. We have never attended a rally of any type, so this will be a new experience for us.

We'll try again.
I just reserved site 20 for Sept 21 thru Sept 27.
We are also hoping to be able to meet our friends from Alaska and make the trip to Newfoundland next fall, but that depends upon the status of the bug, and will supersede the rally, for us, so if all that comes together we will relinquish our site.
As for now, were in.

Windoplr, these are your old stomping grounds, so it will be good to have you in case we need a translator!

Alan and I are in the same situation as Ken and Vicki. Our plans to be in Oregon this fall were postponed until next fall due to COVID-19, and our appointment at the factory was moved out a year. (That's why I planned this year's rally for August; we had intended to be traveling this fall.)

If COVID precludes our cross-country travels again next fall and the rally is held as scheduled, we'll definitely be at the rally. We covered our bases by booking site 18, arriving September 23rd, departing September 27th. If the Oregon trip is undertaken as scheduled, we'll probably have to end up canceling our reservation at Chapman SP. If only we could be in two places at once.

Thanks to Cliff (and Diane) for stepping up to host this year. With Cliff in charge, I know that ice cream will be definitely be involved - yay!

Note to Leaf-Peeper: You might have to take the photos this year. Just sayin' . . .

Note to Wally: Alan and I are not "joiners," and we never even considered attending a rally during the 10+ years we had our Jayco. This is a great group of people, and the gatherings are small enough so that you really do have the opportunity to get to know your fellow ORV owners. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

A good day to all,

Mary

Note to kcfissel: Any chance your friends from Alaska could time their trip to stop by with us before you all head out to Newfoundland? They would be eligible for the "farthest traveled" award!

And we have a couple special guests making a repeat appearance by popular demand. Connie and Ted, close friends of Leaf-Peeper, Ted and Karen, attended this year in NY and are now friends of all of us! Welcome!

Wally, I have to echo Mary's comments on this group. Never did anything like it in all our years of camping, but what a wonderful group of people. Have Superslif to thank for getting us involved.

Speaking of the founding member, where are you Jim? Sure hoping you and Robert are going to join us again.

My buddy is a hunter, and as such, is usually involved in a hunt for the wily moose in early September, so we are planning our rendezvous to be in the east on Sept. 18.
'til we do justice to our time in eastern Canada they will be pushing the winter envelope on the trip back north.
To answer your question, the answer is no, much as I would like for them to join us.

Gerry and I would love to attend next year's rally so we booked site 13 from the 23 to 27. Since we both are also still working we will try to get off and are looking forward to it.
We are planning a trip to Glacier in August so hopefully we have some vacation days left.

I just booked site #7 for Wed. (22nd thru Mon 27th) 5 nights. Most likely I'm going to leave Chapman Monday, and go up valley ( Head waters for Chapman Lake) to Hearts Content US Forest Service campground for another 3-4 nights of dry camping. Besides my son Robert, I'll see if my niece wants to tag along. It was the first time she had been to Kinzua Bridge (State Park) Skywalk, and found it fascinating especially with the fall colors. When we were there this past Sept, she came up for a few days of hiking.

She has the hiking bug. During this September's past ORV rally at North Hampton Beach, she was hiking at the same dates 6 of the 4000'+ Adirondack Park mountains. I guess her and her girlfriend are trying to do all the 40+ 4000' peaks in NY. (hut to hut)...I'll keep my ORV...
