That's good news indeed!

So, what are going to bring to the pot-luck dinner?

Keeping the group updated: Got word yesterday that our 28BKST is complete and sitting in the transporter yard! Apparently, transporters are in short supply. Need to check next week if they have someone yet.

Maybe you could get a transporter ticket, make a road trip to Oregon, & get paid to deliver your trailer.

Jim, Leaf-Peeper has been updating the initial rally post on page 1 of this thread - 20 reservations at last count. That's both amazing and heartwarming. See what you started?!

Jim, you should book a campsite and join us. It won't be the same without you there. All the water/electric sites are now booked, but S43 (dry camping) wouldn't be a bad site to have.

Wagon Master Here...

Now that Memorial Day weekend is now behind us, summer is officially here.

For the Rally, I've received inquiries regarding camper/truck length and the "Bridge" getting over to the south side of the campground. Since we were camping nearby this past weekend, we made a stop by Winhall Brook Camping area to if there were any "long-ish" campers over on the south side of the campground and asked the owners how they did getting across the bridge.

We came across (3) longer tow behind campers and talked with the owners. All of them pretty much said the same thing, "Yeah, it's pretty tight getting across that bridge". Here's what they had and what they were towing with...

  • Wildwood 27RKSS, 33.25 feet, towed by a 2500 GMC Crew Cab truck
  • Wildwood Lite, 31 feet, towed by a Dodge sport utility (the owner's very 1st trip after having a popup)
  • Passport 3221BH, 36.92 feet, towed by a Toyota Tundra Crew Cab truck

While that last camper obviously made it across, I was a bit surprised. Not something I'd expect the average Joe could do.

That was good thinking, Leaf-Peeper - on the spot interviews! I have to admit that the bridge situation intrigues me even though we're not able to attend the rally. So, I went on YouTube. There are maybe a half dozen videos about Winhall Brook and I didn't watch them all. However, this one (despite the dramatic title) was really pretty helpful: The guy was towing a big Montana fifth wheel with a 3500. He and his wife filmed the entire approach to and egress from the bridge, as well as him approaching and crossing it. You'd think the approach was the most important but, actually, it looked like handling the egress correctly was nearly as important. Very helpful and nicely done!

Happy summer camping to all!

Our Wagonmaster posted on the head page that "Dry campers can fill their fresh water tanks at check-in, before heading into the campground."

I just wanted to add that we called and you may need to ask for access to the water (not sure, the person didn't know) and also that the location of the water is at the contact station, so it is available for both North and South sides.
