Just saw this yesterday about the rally. Sorry we missed the last few years but last year we did a cross country trip to Glacier, it was beautiful.
I just booked site 102 for 9/19 to 9/23. We hope we can fit this into our plans next year.
And yes I will also avoid I95 at all costs! It's 81 for us even if that means we are going out of our way.
Hope to see you all there

We did Sherando Lake USFS campground back in 2019. We had a real nice site there (pic ). Before we arrived there we stayed a few days at a state forest campground ( greenbrier, State Forest Campground ), by the Greenbrier Resort. If you ever get the chance do the “Bunker” tour at the GreenBriar Resort.

We have heard it's a lovely campground and we can use our Sr discount.
We only live 70 miles from Hershey so we have visited the show numerous times and may go just to visit the vendors and possibly find some new items for the unit.
Hope this info helps you out.

An FYI: There are still some nice sites open / available there just outside Official ORV Rally Loop. There is a series of pull-thru sites (73,74,75 & 77 ) that are nice sites. These at least have some trees and shade. Other open sites that are open ,but are more open back in and sunny are ( 120,128 & 129 )
Normally we wouldn’t have reserved so far ahead, as we were still finishing up two other trip reservations. So we said if we’re going to do the Hershey RV show, we better reserve both places now otherwise they might be slim pickings if we waited another few months.

Hershey to VA
Hi, Jim! Glad to hear that you will be at the rally.
Ditto to what others have said about I-81 out of Hershey. Taking I-64 east adds about 50 miles from the Googly route, but it's worth it. South of Winchester are a lot of Liberty fuel stops, usually the cheapest on the route. Once you cross the mountain at Afton, it's all downhill!

Just plan on having a great time. As someone who was born and raised and lived in Seattle for 62 years before moving to Ohio to be near grandkids, we have been to 3 rallies so far. It gives us a reason to try new campgrounds in areas we wouldn't necessarily pick on our own.

Yes! Prepare to make new friends and enjoy a delightful weekend! The rallies that we attended combined lots of downtime around the campfire with fun-filled activities, so something for everyone. Offers of help during the rally for set up and clean up are always appreciated. Contrary to what may be public opinion, we don't all sit around talking about how much we like our ORVs, although there may or may not be some of that involved.
It would be helpful if any attendees who haven't already noted their site number, arrival and departure dates, and their first names, do so to make it easier for our Wagon Masters, Sharon and Dave Crowe (milmomx2).
New ORV owners might consider creating a signature with their tow vehicle and ORV model - if only to satisfy the curiosity of the rest of us.
Note that several of the posters on this thread are former Wagon Masters (Superslif, Santana, Cornbinder, Leaf Peeper, seaeagle2 and 4ina4x4) and we sometimes feel the need to pitch in to support this event. Both Outdoors RV and Thompson RV in Pendleton, Oregon, have supported the East Coast Owners Rally over the years with some promotional items, but it isn't sponsored by Outdoors RV like the West Coast Rally held annually in Oregon in June. The East Coast Rally is planned and managed by individual ORV owners. Superslif organized the inaugural East Coast Rally in 2018, and we've been fortunate that ORV owners have stepped up every year since to uphold this fine tradition.
Welcome to the forum, to the ORV owners group and to your first Rally!
Mary

ORV 2024 EC Rally
I was able to switch sites so we're a little closer to the group. We'll now be in Site 75 from the 19th-22nd.
We're looking forward to meeting everyone!

288 around Richmond is a great route. It's a little busy during rush hour, but the best way to go. I got tickled about the "love 81, hate 95." I hate both, but it depends on where you are. I 95 from DC going north you'll need therapy, and I 81 going south with the semi-trucks will make you start drinking, or drinking more. We look forward to the ECR in September!

PS, we've attended the East Coast Rally since 2019, but with Lance. We look forward to the ECR with our new ORV!

With family in Florida and a few favorite haunts along the coast, 95 is, at times, a necessary evil. That being said, given a choice between truckers and highly populated urban areas, we'll take the truckers every time.
Thanks for the intel on 288 - good to know - and congrats on your new rig!

Anyone else planning to stop near Hershey / Harrisburg / Gettysburg pre-Rally? Always had the Hershey RV Show on my bucket list, along with Gettysburg. There is a dealership in Pittsburgh PA who just picked up the ORV line this past August, I wonder if they will be at the Hershey RV Show with new ORV units.
We reserved a week at Gifford Pinchot State Park just south of Harrisburg before we head south towards Richmond VA. for the rally. Yes, “AT ALL COSTS” avoid Baltimore & DC, taking Cliff’s ( Cornbinder) recommendation and take routes 15 / I-81 / I-64…..

Rally Attendees List
FYI: The "Rally Attendees List" has been moved 1st post of this thread.
I'll be working with milmonx2, the wagon-master to try and keep it updated periodically.
