When we lived in Seattle, we went to the Wallowa Lake Rally in 2020, the State Park was about 75 percent ORV's....

Thanx Ted for the update. Working on the RV today in preparation for our Florida Myrtle Beach trip next month. Fixed Propane leak, cleaned roof, roof vents and working on screen door latch fix. Going to wait till next week as we here in the north have one more cold period next Mon thru Thur to de-winterize.

We are about to make the rest of our reservations for our before and after stops for the rally. You can tell they will be on recreation.gov due to the 6 months out time frame.
Looking forward to getting to meet everyone.
Jim
We will be in your neck of the woods in August. Going to Geneva on the Lake State Park.

We are from Long Island and plan to go out a few weeks ahead and make the rally the last stop before home, where were you thinking of going? Would love some ideas.
We were thinking of West Virginia River Gorge but would like more options.
Thanks
Kathy

We are going to Sherando Lake NF Campground 3 days before the rally and after the rally going to visit Rudds Creek & goose point COE campgrounds. Then Claytor Lake SP in VA and Shenandoah River SP then Home. No hurry getting home, just exploring.
Hershey RV show is the week before. If you have never attended, it's a must go to at least once even if you aren't in the market.
We will probably go one day just for the vendors since we live just 80 from there.

We're staying at Shenadoah River State Park for 2 nights, its 15 miles from the Front Royal entrance for Skyline Drive, that way we don't need to tow the trailer. And since we have a Senior America the Beautiful Pass, the National Park entrance fee is $0.00, its about 4 hours from the Rally Campground.

Shenandoah River SP is one of our favorites. We live about 15 minutes from Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Shenandoah River SP is only 50 minutes from our house.

It was always a 5-hour trip to the Lance East Coast Rally near Lancaster, PA with our previous 2 trailers. Since we now have a new ORV 25RDS-T, it's a little over an hour to Pocahontas SP near Richmond. Maybe we should keep the rally in VA for another year. Or is that just wishful thinking?

We can't go... 😥
Sadly, famiy schedules meant we had to do our Canada trip in August and September so we will not be able to attend after all. I was SO looking forward to it! That said, does anyone need a campsite (info below)? I will be happy to schedule when I cancel it so you can snap it up. Please direct message me. At a dog show today, so I will not be able to get back to you quickly, fyi. Whoever messages first wins. 🙂

The 2024 Rally will be held September 19-22 - this is the weekend after the Hershey show. The 2024 rally will be held in Chesterfield VA at Pocahontas State Park. We did recon at several state parks in the area and this one seemed best suited for our group. It is a large park - 7950 acres acres with 58 miles of hiking and biking trails. There are 3 lakes for fishing or boating (kayaking or canoeing). All sites have water and electric. and most are wooded. The park is about an hour Southeast from Richmond. There are Civil War Battlefields in the area for any history buffs.
We drove thru the entire park and have decided that sites 78-97 would be a great location for the rally. Sites in this loop (the loops are not named) are flat. If we fill up all of those sites there are many others in the area and in the park. In some areas of the park many of the sites have significant up or down slope. In addition, to the numbered sites there is a large area B3 which are buddy sites - 3 pads 3 electric and 3 waters. This area is a little more out in the open but has a large area where we could have the evening campfire. It is reserved a little differently. 1 person reserves the site B3 for $99/night and 3 trailers can stay on that site -all with their own pad and hook-ups. If someone wants to rent it and others want to be near them and share the cost it would be a good central spot. The pavilions can be accessed via a hiking trail or by car - there is a lot of parking available at the pavilions. I am planning to reserve pavilion 3 for the Saturday night potluck.
Reservations can be made 11 months in advance - October 19th is the first day to reserve sites.
I will be posting rally information on the ORV Facebook page/events and would like to also post them and this page but will need a little tutorial on how to use that site. If someone would email my personal email address: Sharoncrowe623@gmail.com with tips and basic instructions on how to use the IRV site I would appreciate it!
To reserve a site (beginning 10/19/23) : https://reservevaparks.com/web/ enter Pocahontas State Park and go from there.
If you have any questions, comments (or help with the IRV page) feel free to contact me via my personal email: Sharoncrowe623@gmail.com
Hope to see everyone there,
Sharon (milmomx2) and Dave Crowe

Laura, sorry to hear that you and Jeff can't make it. Safe travels in Canada!
Kathy, FWIW, Shenandoah River State Park is a favorite of ours, too. We actually enjoyed exploring the State Park more than the National Park. It's a lovely park, and we particularly enjoyed walking the trail along the river that's accessible right from the campground. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Thanks Bob, we will look into these parks. I guess I need to figure out what we are doing and make some reservations.

Thanks Mary, we have been to the National park several times but maybe we will check the state campground out. We also have a cousin who lives in Fredericksburg so we will be visiting him too.
