23DBS TV question

Hi -

We were de-winterizing the 23DBS today and when I turned on the TV I had a jumbled, picture, but sound was good and the menu wouldn't come up. I do have channel reception (we were in the driveway). I unplugged it and plugged it back in, etc. Eventually, I jiggled the HDMI cable and the picture came back but it was still a bit off (had an odd pattern). I suspect it may be a bad HDMI cable but have no idea what it is plugged into on the other end (the Furrion unit?) as it disappears into the wall. Does anyone have a clue on how to get to it so I can try a new cable?

What video source were you using? The Furrion HDMI cable shouldn't affect your TV video when using the off-air rooftop antenna. And, yes, the HDMI cable connects between the Furrion head unit and your TV to provide video when playing a DVD and TV audio through your trailer speakers.

Thanks for your reply! I was just using the TV antenna for over the air. Sound was loud and clear. I didn't think the HDMI would affect it but it was strange when I tried to make sure it was seated in the slot that the picture mainly came back. I'll have to try and play a DVD to see if the picture is affected though until I was able to get it back I couldn't even get the menu option to show up. Thinking it may be the TV itself though its hardly been used.

Is the TV antenna coax cable snug at both ends (attached to TV and wall outlet)?

Going to head to the trailer today and check out all of the connections again just to make sure.

I think so...do you mean for the antenna or the head unit? I know there is a switch on the wall plate where the coax cable goes in that can switch between antenna and satellite and it is set for antenna.

So I did a bit of experimenting. Turned on the TV and initially got a strange looking screen with red lines and upside down and reversed channel logo which then eventually came on to show a picture. However, the picture had noticeable thin black horizontal lines across the screen from about 1/4 way down the top of the screen. Then tried a DVD which came on and played OK and could access menus, etc. however also had the same black horizontal lines across the screen as well. Hard to tell if truly a TV issue or something else going.

Got another TV you can take out and hook up to tell you if it's the TV or not?

Me thinks you have a defective tv or loose connection inside the set.

Happened to us in the first year and ORV sent us a new tv. Coax plug disconnected from the circuit board inside.

Previous poster had a good idea....connect another tv to it and see.

Thanks everyone! Yes, I do have another TV I can check. May just have to bring to the house and use shore power so I can plug it into an outlet as it isn't 12 volt. I was thinking it was likely the TV as well but would be good to confirm.
