Awning won't extend 3 months old
The awning motor is heard engaging when toggled to retract. Nothing is heard when toggled to extend. I'll access the switch today and see if it's just a switch. Has this problem affected anyone else?

I am still having a problem with the awning even after replacing the switch. Was down south last spring and was having problem extending/retracting slide. Could hear motor clicking when toggle switch engaged and only after a lot of switching back and forth would the awning extend/retract. After awhile, could not extend/retract slide at all.
Wired the motor direct with a battery at the plug close to the motor and slide worked fine. After replacing switch, still have to fiddle around with it before it extend/retracts. Trailer is less than 1 year old.

Your trailer is less than a year old, have you called the ORV service yet? Is it the awning or the slide?

It is the awning. No, I have not contacted the ORV service department.

Dave, it would be best to start your own thread about your slide and awning problems rather than highjacking ModestMonk's. Its confusing to read as we don't know who the replies are being made to. Thanks

I am replying to the OP's last sentence which is asking if anybody has had similar problems which I have. I have not high jacked thread but have answered as requested by the OP.

Finally had time to sort this out. Went through the inline fuses just behind the tongue, checked voltage on switch and connections. Which left the motor as the most likely culprit. I went to a dealer in my area that is a Dometic certified shop. He pulled the connection and hot wired motor, no go. I called ORV service and they are sending a new motor to me. The local guy said it would take a half an hour to install. When the motor comes in, I'll see if I can be a fly on the wall and pick up some knowledge should this happen again.

thanx...
Were picking up a new Timber Ridge in two weeks and I have some questions like yours "what if"? What if the slide fails? What if the awning is extended and fails....to ask during our PDI. I did get some pointers of the steps to take if the slide fails. ( where the re-set control module is located, how to get to the two schwintek slide motors and remove the "nut" and manually push slide in and then "block" the slide. I have never had any slide issues, but I'm not to familiar with the Schwintek system.
Our present RV trailer, I purposely ordered it without: Power awning, power stabilizers, key-less entry or power tongue jack for the sole reason of less powered things to fail.

Glad to hear you found what was wrong. No doubt it will happen to others sooner or later.

Be interesting if the motor just failed or a gear jammed inside. Personally I'm a manual awning guy, but I don't even think very many RV trailers can even be ordered with a manual awning anymore.

The dealer I got my unit from didn't offer such information, the PDI was pathetic. The guy didn't know how to light the stove let alone how to block the slide. BTW how do you block the slide? I'll guess it's a piece or two of 2x wedged between the flange and the wall to keep the slide in, possible duct taped to keep it in place?

I was told specifically by one of the factory reps that these modern slides do not need to be blocked while in transport. He said they will stay in just fine without it and so far he has been correct and mine has been down some pretty rough roads.
