Battery Question

I have a 2015 Windriver 250RDSW, my batteries are on their last legs. I was originally going to replace with Lithium, but the cold weather charging thing has me rethinking that. Can anyone tell me if two Trojan 105 6volts will fit on the Battery tray without modification?? Thanks ahead of time for any insight.

Who better to answer this question than you with a measuring tape? What batteries do you presently have installed?

If you go to this link, you'll see that 'standard' doesn't mean anything, each battery 'group' has different dimensions.

Like I said, measurement with a tape measure is the only sure way to know what space you have before shopping for new batteries.

That doesn't tell us anything as they come in various dimensions.

Here's a link to a 105 data sheet. It would be quicker to just measure your battery tray than waiting to find out if by chance anyone has your particular trailer and battery combo. Cheers.

Have you considered moving the sealed batteries inside so they are kept warm?

All batteries, lithium and lead, lose capacity as the temperature drops, as chemical reactions are sensitive to temperature.

Trojan's T105RE loses about 30% capacity at freezing, and they also say "At temperatures below 32°F (0°C) maintain a state of charge greater than 60%."

You can still discharge and store LiFePO4s below freezing, but you shouldn't charge them. Also I see that Battleborn claims they can charge theirs down to 25F before the BMS stops the charge.

I too recommend a Tape Measure
The T-105 is a "GC-2" Class. this means that the footprint is almost identical to a Group 24... but they are TALLER. So make sure you have the headroom.

SAM's has a nicer price tag than Trojan. Yes Trojan's are better but that much better... I don't think so.

I have DEKA.. Made 100% in the USA

Thanks for the information. Is anyone using the 6 volt interstate batteries from Costco? 81 each isn't bad compared to 128 for Trojans.

There are few different models of the GC2 Interstate batteries. I've used them for the last 3 TT and never had an issue with them. The last set was 6 years old and still had 91% capacity according to the midtronics capacitance tester that I borrowed from work. We have a shorter season than our more southern brethren, so this will make a difference on the cycle count. I do admit that I treat my batteries quite carefully and never let them run down below 50%. YMMV

I am using the Interstate GC2s from Costco. Two of them will fit easily with a few inches to spare. Mine are mounted in individual Noco boxes I got from Batteries Plus for about $12 each.

Interstate GC 2 (2) for last 14 months....no issues. Keep them on smart charger 24/7.

What are people's opinions of these?

GPL-4CT - Lifeline Batteries

My soon-to-be-here trailer has a 4 battery tray and 320W of rooftop solar. I was thinking of getting 4 of these but that's an extra 264 lbs. on the tongue...

I'm still debating lithium batteries but they seem like they require a lot of monitoring.
