Does ORV now use a PVC roof instead of EPDM ?

Was reading a thread that ORV may now be using a PVC roofing material on its RV now instead of EPDM rubber roof? Is that an upgrade? When did they start doing that? We have an 24RKS on order so I assume it will have the new PVC roof.

Yes. Due to Covid supply issues they switched to PVC earlier this year. At our factory tour they stated the installers liked it over EDPM.

EDPM had a 12 year + lifespan. How is the PVC lifespan?

Lance warrants their PVC roofs for 15 years. I think I've seen longer when browsing on other manufacture web sites.

The PVC roof on our Lance is manufactured by LaSalle Bristol and it has a 15 year warranty. After 5 years it still looks new. Does not chalk, or streak, and cleans up easily. We use Murphy’s oil soap. It has different requirements for sealants.

Not sure if ORV is using the same but you can read up more at lasallebristol.com

PVC has been used on commercial flat roofs for 40 years.

Another reason why MSRP went up. PVC is more $$ than EPDM. Worth it though.

The use of PVC roof with 96% solar reflectivity, leads my thoughts to the next question.

The radiant foil on top of the batten insulation is no longer as much as a requirement. So did they move it down on the conditioned (interior) side to stop water vapor?

They couldn’t add multiple layers, so this would make more sense.

Just another thing on the list that makes my 2014 obsolete. But, unlike a new trailer, mine is paid for and I know how to fix it.

So is the concenses that the new PVC roof is better? I did some Google and it seems to be better except in extreme cold........that ever that is.

Ditto for my 2015 but I don’t consider it obsolete. I consider it thoroughly tested.

How do you tell whether you have PVC or EPDM? Having come from an Airstream van I am not familiar with the fabric roofing.
