Friction hinges too tight

Our 2018 Blackstone has 2 doors, each equipped with a pair of friction door hinges. One door is fine, the other has its 2 friction hinges too tight. We can open and close the door with effort but often the door latch fails to completely seat upon closing leading to it poping open later.

I'm guessing were not the first to experience this. We're looking for insight and tips on how to loosen them. Note that there is a Phillips head screw on the top of the hinge. However, light lubricant appears thus far to have no effect.

For those of you familiar with this, how did you solve it?

Thanks,

It'll loosen up in time.

You can use a little lube but I advise NOT to use graphite because of the corrosion.

Ours loosened up after a while (couple months) Depends how often you use it.

I sprayed some silicone on them which helped until the next rain washed it out.

Thanks for your replies. Will lubricate them with penetrating oil. Tried silicone spray, lessons the problem somewhat. Seals at each pivot point appear to be doing a good job of keeping moisture out. Was hoping the purpose of the screw on top the hinge was to allow lubrication. Otherwise, not sure what it's purpose is.

I've had the same problem with my screen door friction hinges. Nothing really made any difference. Tried WD40, silicon, graphite. And mine just got worse with time. At one point it was so bad it was deforming the screen door. When I removed the screen door, I found that only one hinge is "friction". So I drilled a total of 12 vertical holes, using a 5/32" drill bit. This allows me to get the lube where it needs to be. I don't know if the main door has all three hinges friction or just one or two. But I would start with removing the door and see which is the offending hinge. I did this on weld hinges when I used to fabricate a lot. And..............my screen door swings easily now with no chattering and deforming my door.
