Fridge Problems

For those who choose to travel with their refrigerators running on propane I need advice. Our Norcold refrigerator runs fine on gas while stationary but will not stay lit while moving. Anyone had similar experiences in the past? If so is there a relatively quick fix? We are currently on the road for the next week.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Which RV do you have?
What Brand/Model is your fridge?
Is fridge in a Slideout?

Airflow down side of RV can affect airflow to fridge burner area
Airflow down roof line can affect airflow into lower vent cover
Mods to shield in burner area may help

Propane system is only 0.39 psi (11"WC) and air/fuel mixture is critical for flammability.
*A spider web can affect it

Mods to lower vent cover may help

Don't remember where but I think I saw a mod where someone built a shield around the burner to protect it from the wind.

Make sure the small door to see the flame is closed, ours was open when we bought ours and that was the problem

Hi Ya'll, we had a Grey Wolf before we stepped way up to our ORV. In that RV they did a recall on the Dometic refer that required adding a metal heat shield around the burner area that prevented the flame from blowing out. Not for when driving because they say don't do that, but for when the wind can blow in there while parked. It was a small piece of sheet metal. Oh and Nevada Nick is right check that the little door is closed.

Interesting, our Norcold N8 stays lit going down the road and wind blowing hard against that side. The observation door is closed.

Just for Clarification
The Dometic fridge recall was not about WIND it was due to potential fires if cooling unit leaked
Recall added a HI Temp trip switch to burner stack and the Shield was for containment of coolant leak should one occur in burner area

Thanks for the clarification, looks like I misunderstood the recall at the dealership. Hope I didn't mess up anyone's day. Safe travels.
