Hey 280... owners
Generally, we are a "bigger is better" kind of family. When my wife walked into a 280KVS, she was in love.
Simple question. Do you find the size of the 280 to be troublesome... in any way.
I know a bunch of us that never owned a 280 will want to chime in on this, but I really want to hear what owners and past owners have to say.
Thanks
-B

Yes, it's big. But we love it. My wife loves to cook and that kitchen is amazing. And the views!!! We've only had one state park where we struggled to park due to trees and tight turns. I try to scout out campgrounds before we travel and rely on Campendium and other campground reviews.

We have an older 280RLS that is within a few inches of the length of the newer 280KVS that you are looking at. I echo LITZDOG's comments: "Yes, it's big but we love it". Sometimes we do talk about downsizing but then we have this discussion: "Ok, where do we want to give up 4' (or 6', etc) of living area?". The answer always comes back "nowhere". You do have to plan ahead when reserving camp sites to make sure they can accommodate the length, but in the 8 years that we have been pulling it we've never had any problems finding something in whatever area we are wanting to visit. The 280 might be a little big for just weekend camping but when you're living in it for a few weeks at a time the size seems just right.

We would live in it for 7 months of the year. Currently, we live in and travel in the Newmar. When we get to our destination, the motorhome stays there. We explore the area by staying in hotels.
If we had the ORV, we would still rent a spot for several months but when we did our weekend exploring, we would take the ORV to the location we want to explore and then return to the long-term spot on Sunday night.
We travel this way because I still work full time and need good internet and cell to do my job. It is too risky to bounce around from spot to spot.... what I do now minimizes that risk.

We have a 28BKS, which is about a foot or so shorter than the 280KVS. Like the others said, we just try to book ahead as our truck and trailer come in at 53' long. We have had had little issues in three years finding spots, although they might not of been the first choice we made them work and were happy.
Unlike your situation, I have a ton of kids so the more space the better! We could make a shorter one work as we don't spend a bunch of time in the trailer...but we like having the room and being able to accommodate relatives/friends/kids friends.

Longer "IS" Better
We own the 280 Rear Dinning. I too, run out at about 52' overall. We aren't ones to make reservations ahead of time as were kinda free to camp almost anywhere with the Mt. series. If we were to down size, I would really miss the storage, especially in the bedroom. We especially love the island kitchen and pantry and its added storage. It also has the 3 slides. Tough to give that up. This my 3rd trailer and the longest, but most comfortable for the 2 of us.
Good travels, Mike
