That type of plug is molded into the cable. It's not serviceable. You will need to purchase a new plug, cut that one off and attach the new one.

Here is a replacement 7 pin trailer plug. Comes with simple instructions. Your wires in the cable are color coded. Available on Amazon and major auto parts stores.

SailorGuy-

An alternative to replacing the end is to buy a cable with the end molded on it, like the one you have. Terminate it and the trailer's cabling in a junction box. That way you can easily replace the cable-with-end again when it gets damaged.

Here is a link to a page of options at etrailer. Below is a picture of two of them.

If you are going to cut the plug off, make sure to either cut one wire at a time, and be careful, or best to disconnect the power wire from the battery in the junction box, then replace the plug.

Hi Sailor guy,
So what is the story with the existing plug? Generally speaking, unless the terminals are corroded beyond servicabilty they last seemingly forever. I replaced mine for some forgotten reason and I just got a whole new cord with the plug molded into like our existing ones. There is a bit of difference in plugs. Get the one that has "brass squeeze" type terminals that grip both sides of the termimals on the tow vehicle has opposed to the ones that only contact one side. It's a pretty easy swap.

Non-Squeezy. This is my spare plug I keep in the trailer in the event that some devily stuff happens to my molded plug. I would cut the molded one off and install this one in an emergency. Notice how it is corroding and discoloring on one of contacts.

Thanks for all the input!

If you look closely at my picture you will see the plug has pulled away from the outside cord cover exposing the individual inside wires resulting in eventual failure. I’m trying to be proactive.

Now that you mention it......that's why I replaced mine! If you replace the cord and all I think i'ts a real clean idea to punch the cord thru the front frame facia rail.....sorry the pic is sideways. Should be rotated 90* to the right.
