Just brought home an Anniversary 22FQS

I first saw ORV products at an RV show in 2015. I thought then that if I ever got a travel trailer, it would be an ORV.

I started seriously thinking about and researching trailers in late summer last year. Decided that the 22FQS was the sweet spot for us but that I would need a serious upgrade for my tow vehicle. More research.

Found a used 2019 Ford F250 the last week of December. Then started trailer hunting in earnest.

Thought the pandemic might derail our purchase for another year, then last week we found our dream trailer and decided to boost the economy and take the leap.

Our shakedown cruise will be this week, heading to the Merrill Campground at Eagle Lake in Lassen County. I am very grateful that this campground is open. We will keep ourselves self-contained and I'm camping with DH my pandemic buddy.

Looking forward to figuring out all the goodies, and debugging the problems. Thanks to everyone here who posts thoughtful questions and helpful answers.

Once the serious research begins, the features and quality of ORV products outshine those of most other manufacturers, and so the love affair begins. Congratulations on the purchase of your trailer - I have no doubt that you'll enjoy your first and future adventures with it!

Congrats on the new ORV and the new to you F-250! That should be a nice towing combination - the F-250 pulls our 23DBS easily. Enjoy the adventure and Happy Camping!

Thanks for all the good wishes. We had a fantastic time at Eagle Lake and it was the shakedown cruise I was hoping for.

I'm *in love* with the auto levelers. We had a tent trailer for 10 years and a van motorhome after that and having a trailer that levels itself is just so plush.

The other luxury is a large refrigerator *with a light!* No more sitting on the floor with a flashlight hunting for something in the back. Sometimes it's the small things.

We are using a 12K rated Equalizer hitch. I was extremely pleased with the towing experience. It was everything I had hoped for when we got the big truck. We have named the truck the Honey Badger, because really, Honey Badger don't care. My last towing experience was a Honda Odyssey towing at Starcraft tent trailer. The ORV and truck weigh so much more, but tow so much better.

It took too long to figure out how to unhitch. We couldn't get the hitch latch to slide back. Realized that we needed the hitch height to be the same as the hitch height when we closed the latch on the hitch ball. Once we figured that out, it was easy to release the hitch latch and unhitch.

We bought and installed an Easy Start so we can run the A/C at our next camping trip. Next place is all dry camping. I also made some blackout curtains for the bedroom, ordered a mattress topper, got a "Tubshroom" to stop hair from going down the shower drain, replaced my broken camp weather station, and bought an SAE solar connector with the "wrong" polarity so we can plug my existing solar into the side outlet on the ORV. I have a Sunsaver 6 controller and wiring with Anderson Power Pole connectors that let me charge any 12V battery or connect a small inverter (see photo). I have a 100 watt Grape solar panel that I bring to camp. Works great.
