Loud screeching sound during awning retrieval

I have a 24RLS. Part way through the first year the awning would make a loud screeching sound that appeared to be coming from the aft end of the awning. The local indy service place decided it was due to the mounting channels being misaligned and they arranged to straighten them under warranty.

Everything was good for a couple times and then I didn't use it for several months over the winter. This year when I cycle it the noise is back, only louder if anything. Not sure what to do now as it is out of warranty. Guess I could take it back to the shop that did the work but I'm not confident in their ability to figure out the cause since they missed the first time.

I was told by the shop that there is no lube required on the awning mech but it sure sounds to me that it needs some. When I look at it it seems that the sound comes from within the awning, not from it sliding in the channels.

Any ideas?

Anytime I heard a loud screeching noise I look around for my wife……

Could the mounting channels have shifted out of alignment?

I have mostly eliminated that noise with silicon spray on all of the moving joints on both arms. I also spray the end of the shaft on the roller tube on both ends. Water can enter there and make for rough rotation. I think that was the largest source of the noise. Some videos out there showing lots of rusting at the motor ends and roller tube.

It does help some.

I did the spray on the Lippert friction door that became very hard to open and close.

I'm also experiencing a screeching noise when I close the awning and it's also coming from the back side awning arm. I need to scare up a helper to run the button while I get a look at the mechanism. I'll be following this thread and I'll report in if I find the source of the problem.

I have the same problem with a 2021 Timber Ridge 28BKS. I open mine about a foot, wait and then hear the front arm bracket pop from the sleeve on the rig. I need the bump stop installed. When I retract the rear arm, it squeals loudly. I sprayed lithium on the strut and it stopped for a couple months but has returned.
