Norcold 1210 making high pitched "drone" sound in F30RLS? Help!

Hi there, we have a brand new '17 F30rls and the extra large stainless fridge (Norcold model 1210ss) is making an occasional high pitched drone-like sound. It's not the burner which comes on/off... this is a high pitched sound which is almost identical in pitch to a consumer drone and goes on/off in warmer weather. Are any others having this issue or are your Norcold fridges silent? Thanks for any tips. We thought we had read somewhere about fridges which are in slides having a harder time keep ing cool so extra fans were installed, but we don't see any fans when we open up the upper compartment. Thanks again.

Could be the fans installed in the reefer vent area. There are no other moving parts in these units.

Refers that are on a slide usually have 2 fans to move the heat out, notice the second grille at the top of the slide. Refers that are not on a slide evacuate the heat through a roof vent, convection of the heat negates the need for fans. The fans might be rubbing on their frame, or out of alignment, just a guess though as I have never had an RV with appliances on a slide.

Or maybe it could be one of the fan bearing are bad. As it's a new rig have the dealer check it out.

Welcome to iRV2.

Sorry you're here with problems.

The vent fans are half way up the rear of the fridge , you may be able to see them by holding a mirror so you can look up or down while shining a flashlight up , could be some loose insulation is contacting the fan blades .
If the fan is bad the fridge has to be pulled out to replace them.

Basically all the private and public responses I received are pointing toward the two cooling fans which are accessible from the outside upper vent compartment. Rather than go the warranty route which takes a long time, I think we’re going to buy two quiet computer fans and replace these cheap ones. There are a number of videos on YouTube of people who’ve had a similar problem and have replaced them with quiet fans. Kind of a bummer with a brand new rig, but it is what it is. I’m hopeful we can pull it out without completely removing it, it so the two fans are accessible, and we’ll let you know how it goes.

Having same problem with same model 0nly made humming sound in hot weather. Removed the top outside cover and their was a sheet of metal running across the opening bent in rubbing on fridge looked like heat expanded it in. Pulled back no more humming hopefully this was it.

OEM fans are mid-center just above the absorber tubes.
Fridge HAS to be pulled out several inches to reach fans

Fans are t-stat controlled.
See pgs 48 & 49 in service manual

The fans will cycle on off and there is an obvious sound like a drone when the come on. They both come on together.
