My oven has not worked right since I got my 2021 TRX 27. Have had it in 3 times (all several months apart, due to staffing/scheduling B.S.) I've had issues with the grey tank leaking, Hapijac system, logos peeling off, water pump issue.

It blows my mind that this is tolerated in the industry. This would NEVER be allowed with a car or truck. Everyone in the RV industry is just like, "Yeah, that's how they are. You have to learn to fix stuff?"

Why do we accept this?

Cuz we all like to camp and don't want a tent.

Quality in the Outdoors RV line seems pretty “hit or miss”. Ours was pretty much a “miss”. I fixed a lot and upgraded a lot, but things like the slide mechanism were too much for me.

There were things I liked about the design (the best bed in an RV I have ever slept on, plus a 100-gallon fresh tank, and it was designed to work on 12-volts) and things I did not like (way too dark inside, because of the heavily tinted windows).

After 11 months and just a few short trips we traded it in. That was an expensive deal, but we were still finding major issues when we towed it in to trade it. In that case it was the tires - all four were worn out on the inside edge, and not all of the tires were the same size.

We feel like we dodged a bullet when we got rid of it.

3rd Party items ARE ORV's fault!!

Lower small window on the rear big window opens or doesn't open.
Dinette drawer fell off glides.
Dip in gutter over the slide fills with water when it rains and dumps water badly on the slide.
Several outlets crooked or pulled out of the wall.
My failed refer isn't ORV's fault but everything else is.
Some items ORV fixed. Some I fixed. Some still unfixed.
I've seen a few threads in these forums about something failing on a trailer that is 3rd party (oven, fridge etc.). People are WAY too quick to absolve the Manufacturer (ORV). If they are putting low grade products in their trailers, and then not standing behind the when they fail or saying "talk to _____" when something fails that is complete BULL$HIT! If they say they are high quality and "don't make junk" (see their videos) then they should hold their suppliers to those same standards and if something fails, do everything they can to see that it is fixed immediately.

For too long, RV owners have accepted this idea that RVs just break and we have to deal with it. AND wait MONTHS for someone to look at it. I think this is totally ridiculous. I paid over 50k for my RV and expect everything on it to work for a LONG TIME. Of course, if you read my other posts you can see that hasn't been the case.

We need to stop expecting and accepting mediocrity. It's the only way for anything to change!

you're tilting at windmills; all appliances, windows, doors, stairs, etc. etc. etc. are all made by the same one or two companies regardless of RV brand - and it's all cheap crap for the most part......there is nothing else available except some high end european appliances at 10x the cost which nobody will pay. Sucks, but there it is.

All you can do (IMO) is buy a decently designed and built unit like an ORV, Arctic Fox or Lance, etc. and hope your Norcold, Dometic and Lippert parts work. I also do my own repairs in 95% of cases as I simply won't deal with extended downtime.

I am sure the original owner had to have some things done, but when it got to me, it was completely sorted. Nothing wrong, near as new, and is an amazing unit. Not sure if that is pre covid that is responsible or a previous owner sorting it out, or just a perfectly built unit? Either way, nothing needs fixed.

I have about 4 or 5 days of my own repair into my '22 280KVS Titanium items ranging from 95% of the cabinet screws stripped to leveling jacks being wired backwards, but I drew the line recently when one of my slides had a total failure and it was clear another one was on the way out. At that point, I called up ORV and scheduled an appointment for it to return home for a few days to replace all 3 slides.

Yep; apparently Lippert bought Schwintek and the quality went in the toilette; big thread about in on the ORV facebook page, lots of 2022's affected. I dodged a bullet on that one as mine has a rack and pinion slide.

Your slides may have to be repaired ....

Those are our options?
Pay a lot of money for a trailer and just live with the fact that a lot of it is JUNK, or get a tent?

C'mon. I think everyone deserves a lot better.
No other industry is like this.

You are fortunate to have the time and skill to do your own work.
Still doesn't address the root issue; that people should absolutely be up in arms over all of these items breaking. Only when enough people say something and make it untenable for these companies will there be any change.
Hope that happens sooner rather than later.
As another poster commented; The economy/market won't always favor these manufacturers and when the pendulum swings I hope they suffer the consequences of making junk they don't support.

So what do you suggest? ....a group whine-in? .....the truth is that even the best travel trailers have issues....they ALL have issues since the majority of the products that fail are used by ALL manufacturers. The only way to get a significantly better RV is to pay 3- 4X as much money.....are YOU willing to do that? Do you think most people are?

I'm afraid there is no silver bullet; all you can do is to do your research and vote with your wallet. I did and chose ORV (twice) and I'm comfortable and happy with my decision. I know that my trailer is a complex collection of multiple systems procured globally at low prices and assembled in a small factory in rural USA.....I don't expect it to be as trouble free as my German sportscar made in a billion dollar factory by robots. If/When it something breaks, I'll fix it and camp on.... not much more you can do from my perspective but I'm all ears.

Totally agree with you on this Dave, I also do about 90% of my own work on my RV.

Even my $130k German luxury sedan has problems that they could but won’t fix. They say “we know, and we don’t care”.
