ORV shortage
Interesting article about Northwood and ORV.
Sounds like if you don't have one ordered now you're not getting it until Sept 2022. https://rvbusiness.com/?s=La+Grande&...lude_pages=yes

I think most manufacturers are in the same position.

Is an ORV worth the wait? Or should one just pick up an Indiana build to suffice the desire/need to camp in an RV (5th wheel specific)?

IMHO an RV buyer "could be satisfied" with a different brand, many people are, but, until one has an ORV rig, you have no comparison.
Most of us research the daylights out of these rigs, until we are pretty much locked into what we want, before we pull the trigger.
When you step up is when the differences become apparent.
At that point, it becomes a no brainer.
Find some RVs to look at, maybe take a spin to the East coast rally and poke around. There will be a variety of models to peruse.
This is how we finally decided on ours. Superslif "made us do it!!"

I agree with Ken about research leading to certain conclusions. We spent a year and a half researching our purchase and Outdoors RV ended up being the manufacturer that set the benchmark we compared everything else to. Not wanting to drive cross-country to buy one, we had a #2 choice in mind. When push came to shove, we decided we didn't want to settle and ended up making the drive. No regrets.
That being said, I believe you do pay a higher price for a premium product, and there are other brands out there that will suffice if the financial differential is not in your budget. We were perfectly happy with our first TT, a Jayco bunkhouse model that we bought new 15 years ago and put over 40,000 miles on.
I imagine, though, that many manufacturers are in the same boat dealing with supply chain and staffing issues. I've always wondered how Northwood and ORV managed to staff those two factories in a not very densely populated area of eastern Oregon. It probably comes down to which is more important to you - getting out now in something that's currently on the lot or waiting for a specific manufacturer's product to become available.
Good luck with your choice - I can see how it would be a difficult one.
Welcome to the forum, too!

I believe it - we happened to be driving by our dealer the other day (Apache Camping in Everett, WA) and they had no ORV on the lot that we could see and maybe a couple of Nash's.

Under staffed work force with increase pressure to get the product out the door spells quality control issues.

Supply and demand and supply chain disruptions = extremely limited supply and long lead times. This is why I chose to buy off the lot last November rather than ordering an ORV. At the time they said we'd get it in June but I have little faith in such claims based on my business experience and I knew how annoyed I'd get if I missed the summer camping season because of it.
Personally, I would look at used before compromising with a lesser brand but that's an individual decision.

I think QC issues were prevalent before Covid. My 2019 had to go back to the factory for a slide window leak, crooked slide, noisy slide floor and a weird anomaly bump on the roof. I fixed all the other stuff myself.
FWIW I was able to get in for service in Oct 2020 on short notice because the CN border was closed so Canadians couldn't come down for factory warranty work. When you have to take it back to the factory you have serious issues.
I'd already taken it to the dealer but they threw up a white flag and said I'd have better luck getting it fixed at the factory.
If Covid conditions have made QC worse I wouldn't touch one.

IMHO, We're happy with our ORV. We just got back from a long trip with two minor issues, and that's all. My previous product (Keystone) fell apart as we were driving---my license plate is between Winnemucca and Verdi, for example. We did see lots of Jayco's and Mallards in the east and south.
Do a good search before you sign the line, and after that--don't look back because it will haunt you.
See ya out there.....

We ordered a new 24rks about a month or so ago. Should be built sometime in December I think it was. We sold our 22rb for a very good price to a private party. We were tent camping over the 4th week. It was fun, but put up and takedown was much, much longer to do. Still had a great time. Good fishing was a bonus!
I do have concerns about quality issues and hope things are squared away by the time ours is built.

It is hard to believe that the demand is there, but it still is. As such, I placed an order for my new 2023 24KRS yesterday. I am expecting to get it by next summer. Lots of time to plan
It will give me time to get a new truck also.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but why did you choose the 24rks? My wife really liked the large storage between the sink and the couch. We also like the two entry doors and the couch across from the dinette. We have not seen this floor plan in person. Video walk through only.
