Power cord lights
Hey all,
The back ground: I had to store my trailer at a buddies place while my house was getting painted. A 50ft 14ga extension cord ran from his house to his trailer, I had my trailer plugged into the outside outlet of his trailer, the usual stuff running in both, fridge, co detector, batts charging.
What I noticed was on the house plug side of my power cord (on the grab handle) a little red LED light was on along with the blue LED, I'm assuming this indicates low voltage? everything was working in the trailer. I didn't bother checking with the volt meter, just unplugged and came home. I did check when I plugged back into my house, no little red LED just the blue one was on.
I'm assuming it was indicating a low voltage situation, any one else come across this?

It's possible that was a low voltage indicator. 50 feet of 14ga wire can cause a voltage drop once there is a draw from the trailer systems.

Not sure how a power cord could detect low voltage but it can easly detect reverse polarity.
If its a Furrion power cord, Red is reverse polarity.

Yes it's a Furrion, didn't even think about that. I'll have to check his receptacle.
Thanks.

Yup, could be his outlet or cord. May be his RV.

14ga cord is too small. 12ga is barely adequate. 10ga on a 20A circuit is what I would go with.
