Reusing Andersen Hitch on Underslung Coupler

I am a new IRV2 Forum member, and looking forward to participating in this group.

We currently have a 2021 26KVS with an Andersen WDH (8" drop) and are purchasing a 2024 24RLS. The new 24RLS has an underslung coupler.

I was told the underslung reduces the coupler height about 3". The ball mount can be dropped as needed. Will the standard frame brackets work, or will I need extended brackets to align the chains to function properly?

I appreciate your insight.

You can go to Andersons site and enter you vitals and they'll tell you what you need.

Update:

Picked up the new 24RLS with an underslung coupler.

Utilized the existing Andersen hitch after dropping the ball assembly down 4" in the rack.

The weight distribution chains do tilt a bit upward on the A-frame, but the vehicle / trailer combination functioned well, and towed safely.

Travel safe.

I hope it’s ok to this, I’d like to find out what coupler lock would be used on an underslung hitch. We have a two piece lock on our traditional coupler that slides over the ball part of the receiver and locks behind it, preventing anyone from using the coupler. Not sure if that’s going to work on the underslung type. Thanks.

(below) From a 11/12/2024 post.

Contacted and received prompt responses from Shannon @ ORV in La Grande and from Vanessa @ Amplock (who sent the amzn link)....We ordered an Amplock from Amazon.
