They do have psychological services and prescription drugs for that type of mentality.

And they have Victims Assistance services, Mortuary facilities and Cemeteries for those that think "Nah, it could never happen to me".

Security safe for valuables/hand gun

This thread is drifting into all things but the topic. Please post if you have something to add to the topic of security safes in an RV or move on.
Thanks

Cool Bolt it down...

I bought a safe from Home depot about 8 years ago. It can be opened by keypad combo or using a key and cost around $100. I pulled the drawers beneath the closet and through bolted the safe. I used quarter twenty SS bolts with large flat washers and lock nuts. Could someone get it out? Probably but it will take time, tools and make a fair amount of noise to do so all the while not knowing what if anything they will get.

Our 10 year old 24' Class C does not exactly reek of wealth so hopefully most bad guys would look for a more lucrative target. The typical thief hitting an RV is a snatch and grab opportunist looking for a quick and easy score.

We use the safe to store spare keys, cash, prescription meds, electronics etc.. In states where possession of a weapon can be problematic {I can legally CCW in 37 states} my unloaded pistol legally resides there but remains quickly accessible.

Most law enforcement will tell you that anywhere you hide valuables pro's can usually find them. The safe/install has worked well for us and if they want whatever happens to be in ours they will have to work for it. Some insurance companies will even give you a discount if you document a proper installation.

And the most secure lockbox/safe will only be as secure as it's mounting.

Ok....that's it, my new RV will be a converted Armored Brinks Truck (or is it Loomis now?)

This rampage of burglaries (which has never happened) going on for the last 23 years of my travels in RV campgrounds is coming to a halt!!!

Enough said....Red Dog One over and out.

Oops...

"Enough said....Red Dog One over and out."

It's either "over" or "out"... not both.

A lockbox is good to have to comply with some states' regulations requiring locked ammo/gun storage.

Under the bed platform...

... then try to secure the platform with a lock as well.

Safe in Class A

About 4 years ago I installed a hotel safe that you can open with a code or swipe a credit card, dl, library card or whatever with a magnetic stripe. I bolted it down to the electronics box in the rear closet. I sure with a crowbar it could be torn loose. And I'm sure there are ways to bypass the locking mechanism. I hope to protect items from an opportunist who slipped into my coach. Repair guy, camping neighbor, whatever. Have actually never stored anything in it yet!

Fire Safe

I’d be more concerned about fire and be looking at 2500 to 3000°

Concealed safe

Just for a valuables I’ve been trying to find an electrical box to mount in the closet that looks like it has switches in it. I have one wall between the closet in the bedroom that’s 4 inches of air space in between and perfect for an electrical box. A simple concealment for a small safe from Home Depot
