Suggestions for new tank monitor panel.

The black tank button just quit so there's no readout. The other buttons still work. My dealer will fix it but it hardly seems worth taking it there 31 miles each way. A new monitor panel can't be more than $20, can it? I haven't even called my dealer yet to see if they will just send me a new one.

I did a brief online perusal of other makes. Some look a lot higher tech. I assume that if I bought one of them that I would have to change the sensors, right? That isn't gonna happen.

These mount (glued on) on the outside of the tank, and you may be able to use the existing wiring..ours did

Upgraded ours and monitors the tank levels by percentage..

Id just put a new rocker switch ( I should say a momentary on switch) in and roll with it. Probably had a crappy switch from the get go. Ours has been good since new, switches, levels reading like new.

No messing around with dropping coroplast to run new sensor wires etc..might be different if the whole head unit crapped, but it’s just 1 rocker switch.

If you have a gravity toilet, how about just a flashlight every once in a while? Just don't drop it, particularly if you're using your smartphone!

I only mention that because the black tank sensor seems to be the least necessary, and also one that doesn't work on many RVs due to bad/dirty sensors.

The looking, the dropping, or both?

The SseLevel system looks like a good idea. I wish it had an option to eliminate the battery level indicator, as those are useless for lithium ion batteries. My existing monitor has two switches, so I would have to relate both of those too.

I know the old style works, but I just donít like things that donít work well. When i have just dumped tanks and a grey tank is showing 1/3 full it is irritating.

With a LiPo battery you really should have a shunt-based Battery Monitor installed. They measure amps into and out of the battery and provide your true battery condition in percentages of State of Charge.

They're available for as little as $40 or as much as $200. They're easy to install DIY and are a simple foolproof way to gauge your batteries condition.

I have the $140 Victron SmartShunt installed on my motorhome and it provides all of the needed info on my phone via bluetooth.

Yep! I have the Victron BMV712 battery monitor and love it! I just donít like to have meaningless buttons and indicators, so would like to have a SeeLevel panel without the useless battery monitor.

That said, another thread showed a ďRainĒ switch. That would be worth having even if it didnít actually do anything!

You might try popping off the face of the panel and putting it back on. It worked on ours.

My galley tank was reading 1/3 full for a long time even though I am full time and the valve is left open, ( with a trap in the sewer hose to prevent gasses and flies from getting in). Recently we traveled a couple hundred miles away and I partially filled the galley tank and let it slosh around on the trip and what came out was pretty filthy. Looked more like black tank than galley tank. Since then my tank reads empty when empty so if I were in your shoes I would let some water slosh around next time you take it somewhere and I bet it will start reading correctly.
