Thats exactly where mines installed. I also installed a remote readout under the seat bench. The nice thing with the remote readout is it has an off/on switch.
I debated between the two styles but just didn't want to deal with another thing to pack and unpack.

Seems like a reasonable approach to me. And even though I said I would prefer a portable, I'm rethinking that approach. We (I) almost walked off and left ours heading home from Arizona. Coiled the cord, tossed it inside the door, got called to another task and almost didn't go back. Made that "one last pass" and there is lay, next to the pedestal...
