Toilet water runs constantly

Problem is pervasive but intermittent. I can stop it briefly by snapping the toilet pedal a few times. Still, most of the time we have to shut off the water pump after using toilet. Then of course, when it acts up, to wash hands or need to run water for any reason, the toilet fills so we empty it and turn off pump. Uses a lot of fresh water and fills the black tank faster. I'm taking it to the dealer, but wonder if anyone has some wisdom on this?

Sounds to me like one of the valves for the toilet is malfunctioning. Different brands have different valves and locations of those valves. It usually means pulling the toilet to get to those valves for replacement. Not a hard task, nor a pleasant task. Parts shroud not be too expensive, but be sure to replace the seal at the base of the toilet when reinstalling the toilet.Good luck.

Yep, it sounds like the valve controlled by the pedal, or even the pedal itself is hanging up on something. If you're a bit handy you could likely change out the valve yourself, and save the time and expense to take it to the dealer. It could be something as simple as a little bit of something in the valve and taking it out to give it a good cleaning will cure the problem.

When that happened in our last RV we took the opportunity to upgrade the toilet.

We saw a You Tube on how to clean and lubricate the valve that the foot pedal activates. It was quite simple. You can see into the space inside/beside the foot pedal. With a can of wd40 or silicone with one of those straw like extensions just lube that valve. Haven't done it yet because we only had the issue once so far, but will. It looked simple enough and makes sense.

If you do pull the toilet consider putting in a shutoff in the water line. That way, if it gives you grief, you can shut it off and still operate everything else.

great suggestions

definitely going to look into lubing w/WD 40, and will definitely put a water shut off in the water line. Great idea!
Thanks all.......
I'll be looking at a little DIY now rather than in a hurry to take to dealer.
