Upgrading to 16 in Wheels

I am contemplating upgrading to the MorRyde suspension and replacing the 15 in wheels/tires with 16 in tires/wheels. Searched this forum but did not find a post that had detail on wheels or what it takes for the modification. I read the MorRyde thread so I am comfortable with that portion of the task. Anyone done the upgrade with their ORV that can provide guidance and a suggestion on where to source wheels? Any guidance on hub replacement as I assume that will be required?
Thanks,
Dave

Once you move to 16" wheels they are going to be 8 lugs, your 15" are 5 or 6 lug. Only way I know of doing it would be to install heavier axles under your rig. Why are you wanting to move up to 16" wheels?

Not all 16" rims require 8 lugs. These T07 only need 6. Load ratings are reduced but are still higher than 15". You'll have to search for rims that work.

This is the OE 16" wheel on my GP. They are a 6 bolt wheel.
Your unit has 5200Lb axles and 6 lug wheels, the optional upgrade from ORV changes the wheels to 16" and gets you the MorRyde suspension but does not upgrade the axles.

Wheel ratings vary a lot. You need to look at various trailer and wheel supply sites. You also need to decide on steel or aluminum, 90 pound air pressure ratings or 110 or more. Then you need to make sure that you have the correct backspace as pickup truck wheels usually will be in inches, often several, while trailer wheels will most often be zero or very little more either way. Then you need to pick a tire that is close in diameter to your existing 15" to prevent bottoming.

When you look at the MORryde offerings, to the best of my token knowledge only the CRE/3000 is a bolt on (usually) with the rest of their offerings needing a new center hanger welded on. I would also look at Dexter's E-Z Flex. We have the MORryde on our current 5er while we had the Dexter on the last. I liked the Dexter better but it is some number of dollars more expensive. Hopefully you are planning the wet bolt upgrade as well

Thanks Rick. I thought for sure they would be 5 lug. I should have gone to my storage place and checked it out before I posted. I read the MoRyde thread from ricndot so I am pretty sure I can handle that part. Just have to figure out how to measure the wheelbase. I'll see if I can find a place to source the wheels. For those of use who do not have the x4 package this should get us close. Appreciate your feedback!

Thumbs up

the t07 15" 6 lug (@ 2830lbs) exceeds the 5200 lb axle rating. the marathons are rated for 2540@ 65psi. do the math.

I did the math this afternoon on the Maxxis M8008 ST Radial Trailer Tire - 225/75R15. You guys are spot on. No benefit to carrying capacity with a wheel upgrade. I save my money for other upgrades.

The benefit to upgrading to 16" wheels being able to run LT tires that aren't prone to blowouts and last longer. I would never upgrade to 16" just to run another ST trailer tire.
