Water pressure pump light stays lit.

Hello, new to site and trying to figure out my pressure pump rocker switch situation. 2006 holiday rambler endeavor. I initially could not get the water pump to turn on, removed pump confirmed pump works, reinstalled. The pump light and power came to water pump without any findings, crazy. The light to the pump and the power is to the pump, cannot shut it off. I should be able to shut the water pump off. Naturally the pump light and power to the pump is on but not running until demand is there. Is there something I am missing. I have the main rocker switch on the control panel in hallway, as well as in kitchen and near the pump in the basement. Seems as though the control panel should be on/off not rocker switch. Thanks in advance.

Not missing anything, that's how it works. If you are on City water then no pump needed and turn it off, no light then. But if you're not connected to city water and you need water to flush, etc., then turn pump on. It should cycle only when needed.

Thanks Ted, I was thinking that case with the rocker arm switches and understanding the on demand pump. My only thinking was the amp draw with the pump on standby so to speak. As I am getting more familiar with electrical system and amp draw, etc. wish there was a positive on/off. I must be overthinking the situation.

In most cases, the Water Pump switch is located in convenient places. If your coach is setup that way, just leave the switch off until you need water. If the pump is not pumping, I don't think there would be much amp draw at all.

There is almost zero draw when the pump is "on" but not running

All of the lighted switches on the control panel have no real bearing on the operation of the appliance they control the lights come on with the switch position. For example the AC water heater switch will light even if the switch on the water heater is off or the breaker is off.
