Water surge while using pump

We have a 24RKS-- the water surges when using the pump. Only the cold water, not both hot or just hot. As soon as cold water is added to the mix, the pump surges. The issue gets more pronounced, the higher I turn up the cold water.
Any ideas why and how can I fix????

Sounds like a bad pump. I assume it used to work without surging?

The probable reason it doesn't surge as much with hot water is that the hot water tank is acting like a ballast tank (could be some air in there that's not getting purged). I added a ballast tank to our rig because I hate hearing the pump run continuously. A ballast tank will both smooth out any surges and cause the pump to run in "cycles" instead of continuously.

When you say it surges, do you mean that it runs, stops, runs? There are adjustments for that if so. If you search YouTube for Shurflo pressure adjustment several maintenance videos will come up showing how to make the adjustments. most of the time it just takes a screwdriver and a couple minutes.

Whops!! I fixed it!
There is an adjustment screw on the front of the pump. When I attempted to adjust this before, it became hard to screw counterclockwise. Well, today, after some skin tearing and sweat droplets, I pulled the pump up enough to find the screw. I took some pliers and using a small allen wrench, I screwed in the adjustment. Viola, the pump adjustment worked perfectly. I'm assuming the adjustment screw tightens a spring of sorts-thus it was harder then I thought it should have been.
This helped me--I hope anyone out there who has a similar issue can use this info.
Stay cool.

If you can find the space adding a surge tank really helps smooth things out and reduce the pump cycling. Any place you can T into the cold water line after the pump works.
