What do normal people do?
I'm 6'-2" and I can barely reach the range hood exhaust flap outside. I figure if you're under 5'-10" you've no chance. Do they use a step ladder or let it flap? The 'locking' mechanism is not the most user-friendly either, is it?

That's where the rod for manual awning comes in handy

Mine never gets latched until we put it away for the winter. Done that on my last NW 5er for 6 years and now 3 years for our 25RDS.

Yeah, it seems a bit OCD. Pretty tough climb even for a mouse!

Ours is unlocked. It doesn't flap very often----maybe more hot air inside than realized?

I use a step stool, too. I like to shut it when I'm traveling because dust and heat flow through the trailer if I don't.

Opened it when I bought it and have no plan to ever close it.

Open it and remove flapper and then put a screen over the opening. A mud dubber screen like for a water heater works great. Can attach several different ways as situation dictates.
